Star Trek Online

we've all asked stupid questions at one point or another...especially moose :p

Truth ^^

There is no longevity in the game right now. :(

Only because you got to admiral within 5 days (give or take) :)

Given how busy I am at the moment, it is taking ages to get my alt to admiral.

They must have something big planned though with respect to content - the patches of the last two weeks have fixed/changed/added almost nothing.

Edit: Go and take the survey of the STO website. Free 240 cryptic points on completion :)

Trial nearly up and I have enjoyed it . Will probably buy now :D Got to Lt Com 7 and my appetite is whetted for bigger and better ships .

I have a shed load of level 2 , 3, and 4 gear and not enough tabs to put it all in the fleet bank ?

Sell it all and put the credits in the bank ?

Yes, probably best to just put the credits in there. Wish I had more time to play atm!

Some great info in there!

In the next couple weeks, Cryptic will begin rolling out its "Special Task Force" episodes. These are basically missions built for groups of five high-level players. Both the Federation and the Klingon factions will be able to complete these, and Cryptic plans to release a new one every two-to-three weeks. Currently, there are five of these episodes in development.

"In update one we're looking at adding and fixing those skills that peter out, as well as offering a pretty inexpensive [skill respecialization] within the game". The respec can be paid for a few ways, likely including a trip to Cryptic's C Store, but I was assured that an in-game method would be quite accessible. Also on the horizon are new player-versus-player maps, new fleet actions, and further additions to the C Store – specifically, new races.

:D Much more in there, all sounding good.

Edit: Also like -

It is expected that The Infected will be noticeably more difficult for Star Trek Online players, since almost everything else in the game can be done solo. In fact, not just any random group of people is expected to be able to blast their way though the episode – proper group make-up is going to be important. "We are building it so that you do need some semblance of a balanced group. It is meant to be a challenging cooperative experience". Zinkievich estimates that, while the times will vary, most groups will take about an hour and a half to complete this first Special Task Force episode. "The first time, it took us a couple hours, because we just died a bunch".

I guess all of this (and the other stuff mentioned e.g. respecs, skills changes) explain why we havent seen large patches for a while.

And sometimes it would be nice to have a very short, basic mission to do for those of us who can't always put aside a couple of hours. Though perhaps these are there, but I haven't found how to get them yet :)

Most of the missions/episodes that you undertake are actually split up into parts - if you look at your journal you will see these. You can generally quit at the start of each new part and it will save your progress.

The fleet actions are SO much more fun in a cruiser. You can just drop into the middle of an enemy fleet, activate all shield buffs and just enjoy the show. In addition, I have often come in the top 2-3 on the score sheet (not that i am bothered about where I come, but I was surprised).

Turning is a pain in the bum, but I look cool doing whatever it is I am doing :D

Anyone else not had an invite to the OcUK fleet, but want to join?

Yes when im doing this in my cruiser i imagine a space whale singing a beautiful song, all the other ships are wowed and awed by me as i gently but gracefully swim around the enemy.

<- bored :P

After having done borg encounters i felt my self wondering why on earth i put so many points into shield when i should have gone full hull tank... seemst to be far better.

Depends what you are doing really. Borg eat shields instantly, Undine bypass them completely - however, they are useful for missions in the B'tan cluster. Although given that about 5% of the b'tan cluster missions involve space combat, possibly not all that useful :p

Got my lifetime refund today. Given that I have "free" game time until March 27th, not convinced I will be subbing passed that date. Cryptic have a lot to do to keep me!

Ah just got a 5day trial off a friend, really enjoying the pace this game goes at, especially enjoy being able to travel without random mobs all over the place. Still in T1 ship though.

Problem at the moment is i'm getting all sorts of 'can't authenticate errors' when trying to sign in, and 'server not responding' when trying to load the game and in the game just now.

Also to get a sub up is it just the monthly cost to start or do i need a new game cd key to go with it too?

If you could throw me an invite to the fleet i'd be happy also.
onyceptable@thop i think.

To fix connection problems, you might want to try connecting through the EU proxy. You may occasionally still get "server not responding" issues, but usually very briefly.

To sub, you will need to enter a retail key into your account.

Tried to add you, but says your name is not correct. I need it exactly as it would appear in the chat window.
