Steam link gaming thread.

Well it says £39.99 according to the Steam website...
But not sure if this is just an RRP or if there is a median price between the discounted price and this price...

Actually bud, GAME currently has these also, but no time limit indicated.
Of course they could take it down anytime I guess...

I just made an order for the Steam Controller just this minute.

yeah that's what I meant lol I was going to buy from game but I expect the deal will run out when steam stops doing it

just picked one up today, linking it was a breeze, first game I tried was dirt rally which played but not great, it had occasional stutter and for some reason didn't look that good graphically, then tried rocket league which played faultless, those are the only 2 games ive tried at the moment but it was great playing rocket league with smooth gameplay and the same graphics as my pc :)

seems from my short test that some games work better than others through this? anyway it was a bargain for £15.99

Fiddle with the settings on the Link, mine was a little "noisy" until I discovered the settings to force best quality. Been perfect ever since (wired)

Bought one in the sale on Friday and it has arrived in the post today. Hoping to give it a go when I get in from work. Initially I'll be using it on wifi so might expect a few performance issues till I get my wired network finished.

I got one in the sale friday and had it delivered saturday.
Works flawlessly on my wired network, got streaming set to beautiful but only streaming at 1280x720 but all games ive tried have been complete stutter free and cant tell any difference playing over the link.

Amazing bit of kit for the price.

Ive just ordered the steam controller too as that was on sale also as I found the xbox 360 controller worked fine for racing games etc but had a few issues in FPS.
The steam controller works ok for games like TF2 while its impossible to play with the 360 controller.

Whilst I've only used my Steamlink a few times, I've found myself using my laptop (Fedora) and signing into my Steam account to stream games from my Windows gaming pc. Works rather well :)

Good to hear syks.
Incidentally, how were you connecting to your network, WiFi or Ethernet?

I'm going wired straight into the router

Bizzare that it should lag despite being wired to the router!
My Steam Link arrived today, about to set it up and try it out...

my pc is wireless to router and is upstairs and I have the steam link wired into router, I tried dirt rally again and it wasn't as laggy...but... I did notice input lag when using my Microsoft for windows pad on that game

also tried sleeping dogs and it was almost perfect on that, seems strange but I seem to get good performance on some games and its not so good on others lol ahhh well it was still worth it and a bargain at the price so I don't regret it :)

got my steam link working what seems like perfect now :) it didn't update when I tried it the first few times for some reason but has now plus I found the settings under home streaming I think it is? and unticked a lot of stuff except 2 options (one is for NVidia gpus and the one above it) and also stuck the bitrate or whatever it is to 50 instead of automatic, can now play dirt rally with no stutters and the other games ive tried seem great as well

its a great little thing for the bargain price I paid, I'm happy with it :)

My Steam Link and Steam Controller arrived today. All nicely packed, and I needed to enable to streaming option in Steam so my PC could be found.

It's working perfectly, and so far the kids have tried Lego Hobbit, Trine 2 and Gauntlet. Really happy with the experience so far.

Is there a way my wife can check email on the main PC, or does it have to send the image to the TV at the other side of the house?

When the gaming PC is streaming to the link, anything done on the main PC is displayed by the link.
Played an entire evening of Motorsport Manager without realising it was pumping out of the living room TV also :D

Couldn't be happier with the Steam Link. Fifa17 works perfectly and I can play with my son on the big screen. Just Rocket League online, where you need to see the car react immediately has a slight input lag, but it's still playable.
