Subnautica

Well this has come a long way since I played it 18-24 months ago. There is actually stuff to do after building a cyclops now. Such an atmospheric game. Glad I started my save again, I would have missed out on a lot.

To each his own, but really ! The sense of danger entering a cave/wreck knowing you HAVE TO remember the way out is a major part of the game for me.

I love how easy it is to get disorientated, as I am sure it would be in real life.

Reminds me of the Descent games back in the day. It happened to me last night inside one of those huge trees located in the Mushroom forest. Couldn't take the prawn in and I was running out of air trying to find my way out. Barely made it in time.

I've run out of things to do now finally. Collected pretty much all the resources on the map and have a ton of it including 5 lockers full of nuclear rods for power. I truly hope the next DLC isn't too far away!

While playing this I keep thinking to myself "this is what no man's sky should have been like!"

I think I'm in the last quarter of the game.

I am really surprised though that such an advanced company would have some sort of mapping system in place :D

Last night while searching for moonpool and power cell charger parts, I kept hearing a loud groaning sound like you do but thought it was a reef back so kept on going. Eventually decide to look up to see what it was and pooed myself, it was only a damn Leviathan swimming around. I wasn't close enough to see the colours etc on it, just the shape of it but I didn't fancy getting much closer.

Finally got the seamoth and moonpool last night. Makes everything a bit easier now. Modification table and battery charger too, just need to build them. Made a quick dash to pick up some plants and scan some grow containers, also making it easier (I don't remember it being so close 18 months ago, but maybe I swam unaided - I swear everything felt further away). Wandered off a bit too far and saw a Leviathan in the distance, that was tense. I remember the first time playing and not knowing about them - went for a long swim behind the Aurora and got grabbed from behind, don't think a game has ever made me jump so much.

The Seamoth is such a wicked little vehicle, love bombing around in it finding stuff and hopefully can start getting some upgrades on it soon to make it better! Jealous on the moonpool, only managed to find one of the two pieces last night so need to go back out and track down the other.

They are a scary beast aren't they, even the outline of them is enough for me :P

Been debating whether or not to make the ultra glide fins or not, between the Seamoth for long distances and the sea glide for scooting around caves they don't really seem worth it, however I'm planning on this being my main big play through so might make them for completionists sake.

My first venture out I only got one of the moonpool parts and then started to run out of battery power and food, so had to head back. Got lucky on my second journey.

I will probably still make some glide fins, they don't look too difficult to make.

Need to get some depth upgrades for the seamoth, but at least I don't feel as restricted now and am not too far away from my previous playthrough. Haven't decided on the other upgrades to add.

Yeh the depth upgrades would be really handy, 200m really isn't much in the grand scheme is it? I was thinking of the Solar recharge, perimeter defence, engine efficiency and maybe a storage locker for spare power cells/emergency rations or something like that.

Couldn't find any depth upgrades for the seamoth, but fully explored the aurora and unlocked the cyclops. Along with a watermelon bed and storage lockers it now functions as a mobile base. Took it straight to the grand reef and am gathering lots of resources from there. Managed to sneak past some kind of leviathan - ghost I think. Didn't seem to bothered by me and when it did attack I just about survived - crafted the stronger diving suit just in time!

There are depth upgrades for it, although the Prawn suit is better for really deep exploration.

200 meters is useful for early/general exploration and gathering of basic resources (always scan any fragments you find, as they give you titanium).

I need to give it a go again as I got probably about halfway/three quarters of the way through the game last time I played, and had a couple of quite nice bases built :) (not to mention a bunch of basic emergency shelters/recharge facilities).

Some great news about the game which I was reading on the motorway yesterday whilst travelling. whilst travelling. The experimental branch should very soon (if not already) have build lag fixed, the last 2 achievements fixed and a new Hovercraft vehicle added.

They certainly haven't been easy to find. The cyclops can get me to 500m, so I can explore a little more now. Found a time capsule that gave me a load of scanner room upgrades - I don't use the scanner room.

What we need is a cyclops base connector. Hovercraft sounds like fun.

Jumped back on this again this morning. 4 hours in and already mining kyanite :) I love creeping around in the sub. I've made that my mobile base instead of having a static one. It's so much easier than constantly having to go back and forth.
I might build a nuke power plant to charge the bats as I haven't got the upgrade for thermal energy yet. but I know as soon as I do all that work I will find the upgrade in the next wreck I look inside.

Now that I know where stuff is it's really quite enjoyable compared to my first run with stress/fear and swimming away saying "no no no no nope" or "OMG WTF IS THAT THING!!" lol

Found an entrance to the lost river (after mistakenly wandering into the dead zone and spotting two ghosts just in time!). Next job is to build the prawn suit. I also need to go back to the kelp biomes as I didn't find a single one of the wrecks in there and still don't even have the vehicle upgrade station!

I didn't realise you could find upgrades like that until I found the MK1 Seamoth upgrade last night. You can craft all three of depth upgrades though if you are struggling to find them.

I haven't got a Cyclops built yet but that's a shame that there isn't a base connector for it, I like being able to access my vehicles from my base.

This is basically me every time I play lol.

I've been playing Subnautica for so long that I am still surprised that I can't park a Cyclops for diddly squit. Hit a multiroom that obviously forms part of my main base above the lost river entrance trench. Entered the base only to find a heap of leaks needing sealing up and in a mad panic couldn't find the repair tool. Ended up making one on one of my cyclopses to fix my mistake.

I tend to do accurate steering on the cyclops using the external camera that is positioned just under the main nosecone. Even then it is hard to judge distances between external objects right!

My Cyclops has loads of them pink inflatable things stuck to the side of it :p

If I leave it on its own for 5 mins, I come back and it's floated to the surface :p Anyway to stop them from sticking themselves to the side? :p
