Subnautica

So I've put about 5 hours in over the last week, not long but have limited gaming time due to kids etc., am very impressed so far.

Was a bit lost at the start, but getting the hang of it now, only just created the seamouth but man that's a massive quality of life improvement to get around and reduce the amount of surfacing I was doing. I also took a while getting the larger O2 tank which made life much more difficult than it should have been.

I am glad I chose to keep the food and water requirement on, if I'm heading out to explore I have to have a nice meal first or take some supplies along, I didn't choose the perma death option though as not played many survival games and didn't want to have to restart over and over.

Struggling to find gold and silver in any useful quantities though.

Silver and gold can be found in sandstone and shale outcrops, but sometimes you have to go a bit deeper than the safe shallows to be able to get ones that they'll spawn in. I've found the cliffs overlooking the Grassy Plateus biome has a lot of these outcrops for silver and gold ore. The Grassy Plateu biome is the one with the red grass at the bottom. It's about 50-100m down. You can also find the outcrops on the stone pillars in this biome.

As you've found, I much prefer playing with the food and water requirement on. It makes it a bit more real and you've got to manage yourself accordingly. When you can build the storage module for the Seamoth, do so and then load it up with food to take with you :)

Late to the game with this one. But wow, what a game! The only game I've plowed time into for years, absolutely love it. Still not quite finished. About 40 hours in and I've just discovered the disease research facility and started mining for nickel ore. Need to find the containment facility next (at least I think its that next).

Looking forward to the new release.

Btw folks Subnautica: Below Zero is potentially looking to enter Early Access in mid December with full release being...October 2019
Given they've got the foundations of their sequel already laid out thanks to Subnautica I'll likely jump into the early access branch asap.

I'll be all over it too. One of, if not the most atmospheric game I have played. The hours disappear.

I absolutely loved this. I'm tempted to give it another go now I've got a new GPU in. Will definitely be getting the any new updates/releases asap.

That's an amazing offer. Given that I only bought it a couple of weeks ago I'd normally be a bit miffed about hearing this. But honestly, given how much I've loved this game and how much time i've spent on it, I don't mind one bit and I'm happy to hand my money over. The devs deserve it imo.

Is there anywhere to sign up for the Below Zero early access (or where I should be keeping an eye on)? Would love to be a part of that.
