Summer Transfer Thread 2018

Man Utd seem so desperate there trying to buy any CB that will listen which is quite funny, even got Alexis sanchez doing interviews saying he wants big signings etc.oh dear

Everton are hoping to sign Marcos Rojo from Manchester United for £22million before the transfer window closes.

The permanent deal for the 28-year-old Argentinean defender could go down to the wire once Everton are finalised their moves for the Barcelona pair Yerry Mina and Andre Gomes.

Nothing's going to happen today, is it? It's staggering to think that Spurs won't sign a single player. Given how quickly Poch signed a new deal after his comments about Spurs needing to be brave and take risks to be competitive, I assumed he'd have been given some sort of assurances over transfers. .

My guessing he was expecting a few players to leave..

Isn't that exactly what he was commenting on when he spoke about the club being brave and taking risks? He didn't want to have another summer where he was waiting until the final week of the window to do deals because Levy was trying to squeeze every single penny out of buying clubs. To be fair, I don't think Spurs are the only side this window that hasn't been able to shift players because they're asking for too much (we're struggling to shift a number ourselves) but Spurs' problem is that they can't or at least won't buy until they have sold them. Hindsight's a wonderful thing and Levy has typically got the fees he's wanted in the past, if even at the expense of signing replacements in time for pre-season but Spurs really would have been better off accepting £10m less for Toby, Rose and Dembele and getting the players in that Poch wants.

Deadline transfers these days such a bore

Odemwingie's day trip to Loftus Road, Robinho not knowing who he's signed for, Benjani's airport narcolepsy, West Ham signing two Argentinian indentured servants. Kids these days don't know what drama is, back in my day deadline day meant something, mainly worrying that Utd were going to bring in a Colombian who needed 2 knees replaced.

Social media has ruined it, half of what tv channels report is always old too.

Bah

How many defenders do Everton need?

We only have Keane, Jags and Holgate as centre backs.

Keane doesn't look convincing at all really. Jags is ancient. Holgate has an achilles injury and has hardly played in preseason.

So we need 2 more at a minimum, especially if Silva wants to play 3 at the back.
