Summer Transfer Thread 2019

And Sami Khedira as well coming in supposedly.

I'm happy enough as he's a decent player with a lot of experience.

However no CB coming in which is our most pressing concern. (Saliba not available for 1yr)

Latest BBC article about Pepe suggests we’re still in for Tierny and that the club are looking to ‘bolster in central defence’, could be the most exciting transfer window for us in years! Apparently he wants to stay and prove himself :D

Lots of weird things flying around today about United, still mentions of Maguire, Fernandes, Dybala and SMS. Di Marzio has been pretty poor the last few years though.

Every mistake both Mustafi and Sokratis make have already been made in preseason.

Mustafi with dodgyness at the back and mistakes and Sokrates with getting send off.
Shows they’re just incapable of learning and improving. They’re as good as they’ll ever be, but it’s not good enough.

Did anyone catch that on talk sport earlier about these instalment deals that are becoming commonplace?

Apparently, in many cases, the selling club sells the debt to a large finance company or bank for a percentage less than what’s owed. So for example, Pepe, is 80m. Arsenal pay £20m upfront and then Lille sell the remaining 60m debt to a finance company for £55m. Lille get £75m upfront and in their kitty and then divert all future instalments they get from Arsenal straight to the financiers, so the financiers make around 9% interest on the deal over 5 years. Everyone’s a winner!

I can't wrap my head around what's going on at United. There's eight days left in the transfer window and we don't seem to be any closer to signing a centre back or central midfielder. It boggles the mind that Woodward has spent so long chasing Maguire without seemingly having some sort of alternative option. United should have had a maximum price in mind that they're willing to pay for Maguire, negotiated up to that amount and then backed out and sought an alternative.

I also don't understand the central midfield situation. We've lost Herrera and haven't signed anyone new to fill the gap, Fred hasn't settled yet, and arguably Matic's legs are going, plus Pogba supposedly wants out, yet the club seems willing to start next season with the same players.

Every transfer window we do some decent early business then leave the rest far too late, or get hung up on chasing one particular target for ages and run out of time to find an alternative. If we don't sign a CB and CM between now and next Thursday then I can't see how we do any better than last year.

Would be over the moon with Dybala, great player.

Maguire would be good too.

Won't miss Lukaku, he hasn't been close to good enough.

Dybala, Fernandes, Rodri, Pepe...

I know that Klopp doesnt want to buy just for the sake of buying but I do feel a little envious of the transfer excitements that other teams followers are having in comparison to what is being a very dull transfer window for Liverpool.
