I was really surprised when I saw this just now. Thought Real Madrid would be the only thing on his mind. Perhaps there’s more assurance over playing time and more in terms of wages for him, besides Utd obviously having offered the most to Lille.
Football just get's more and more ridiculous money wise, it seems like only yesterday Southampton's record signing was 4 million pound Rory Delap and now 4 million barely gets you an able bodied player!
Hopefully he lives up to his potential, though we do have a tendency to stifle transfers (not homegrown) rather than improve them these last few years…
That's a massive gamble when I'd have thought you required experience.
Last thing we need is more past-their-prime stars on massive wages that only have a year or two of top level play left.
