Summer Transfer Thread 24/25

I thought that myth was dispelled a while ago with Martinez (he can jump after all). Plus who even plays in a way like they did in the 90s too, I think Guehi is a superb defender.

Martinez usually has someone taller than him to play alongside. I am not saying he isn't good at headers but with teams like Arsenal getting taller players, height is an advantage.

Both are great defenders but I would be worried if the defence is Martinez and Guehi pairing and come up against Haaland.

Desperately need more defenders. Been watching the pre-seasons and it is still a clown show at the back, absolutely hopeless defending with Maguire, Evans, AWB, LIndelof.

Looking good going forward, especially Amad, but this season will be just as terribad as the last if we don't clear out the defence. Anything would be an improvement, these two lads from Bayern would be a start.
Looks like De Ligt and Mazraoui are getting close to be done.

Also think this is an issue with no solid DM? If we can get Ugarte, we can hopefully sort out all the gaps in the squad.

Transfer window a total bore for me so far, not even some good fake rumours nothing!

Half way through and not once given Baz even a twitter one! :(

On a serious note I’d like us to sign a defensive mid and centre back

What?!

£33m for an average player with less than a year left on his contract. Chelsea apparently "let him go a bit cheaper because he was going abroad". Do me a lemon. Its not like any club of note would be stepping up to pay that for him in the PL.

Such a strange one. I get more and more confused with these transfers and the market in general.

Chelsea have to sell and don’t want to sell to a rival
Atletico don’t have to buy

Why are they paying so much money for him? He’s got a……yeh i’m lost as well.

£33mil for an england international regardless of contract is decent business tbh

He will do great at athletico. He dragged Chelsea forward end of last season he’s having the last laugh leaving a club in a mess and going to the sun to woek under simeone

Don't think you lot can comment on players moving for 'silly' money when they have a year left on their contract :p

Was arguably their best midfielder last year, good move for him
