Summer Transfer Thread 24/25

Someone best check on piggy, pulled out of the Guehi deal and not looking like signing anyone else.

Well I did say we were already overpaying at around 60ish and would be happy to walk away :D

Parish can go suck a fat turd. He’s nose is that far up the super league 6 arse he probably end up selling Marc to one of them for half the price

Oh ok, I said FSR not PSR. What Arsenal will not want to do is lose ground on Man City or the others, why spend on players like Rice if you have no intention of going for the main prize...and to get that we need a striker or at least cover for Saka and a keeper.
They've got to strike a balance between being as competitive as can be without being financially reckless.

What I think sometimes as supporters we fail to recognise is the challenges top clubs face when it comes to improving their side, at least ones where money is an object. Liverpool's ex head egghead recently released a book and has been doing lots of interviews promoting it and a major part of those have been around Liverpool's caution in the transfer market and he very simply put it that it's very difficult to improve on an already good side (not specifically this Liverpool side) and when you cannot afford to waste money (he mentions that on average 50% of signings fail). There won't be lots of players Arsenal could sign where you could confidently say that's going to improve them. There will be some that could improve them but they become a bit of a gamble and it's a case of balancing the cost with the potential reward.

You can see it now, Newcastle buy Gomez for £60m and we take Guehi for £45 then in January we take Gordon. If Carlsberg done football transfers.

*I don't actually want Guehi and can't imagine Liverpool will look at him. Our eggheads have only ever targeted giant CB's in the past.

Mate I told you we wouldn’t sign him, Parish was always going to string us along, we were stupid enough to fall for it for way too long.

How are bournemouth allowing this

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto on a season-long loan deal, the PA news agency understands.

The Gunners’ move for the 35-year-old Cherries captain is a straight switch with no obligation or option to buy.

Neto’s arrival in north London will pave the way for England goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale to complete a permanent move to Southampton.

Well there's no way they took Kepa to be a backup keeper, they have 4 keepers in the squad (I think) so someone needs to go, moving Neto probably saves the most wages etc.

They presumably see Kepa as an upgrade on Neto for the season

I think today maybe busy for number of clubs

Some twitter claims were still in for a midfielder which makes sense.

The longer champions league phases will require more depth

Al Ahli agree £40m deal for Brentford's Toney

Latest from Sky Sports News' Lyall Thomas:

Al Ahli have agreed a £40m deal with Brentfordto sign Ivan Toney.

A medical has been scheduled.

Al Ahli have also agreed a £67.3m deal to sign Chelsea target Victor Osimhen.

Chelsea target Victor Osimhen will undergo a medical today with Al Ahli.

Sky in Italy are reporting that agreements are being finalised for the striker to move to the Saudi Pro League.

He is set to sign a four-year contract at around £33.6m (€40m) a season – or £646,154 per-week – tax-free.

It will also include a release clause. Signatures on the contract expected this morning.

The club-to-club fee is £67.3m (€80m). The player has decided to go where they wanted him most.

Not as sure with Toney. He just wanted to be paid what he thought he was worth which wasn't crazy given some money being earnt by bang average players.
Throwing england career away and playing in the best league

Hes done a money grab but not surprised he is a gambler afterall

I think it's far easier to understand Toney making the move than some other players. He's 28, spent most of his career in the lower Leagues earning poor money (relatively speaking of course) and even at Brentford, I'd be surprised if he was on much more than £2m per year, if that. Despite the talk of mega money moves to Arsenal or Chelsea, it's clear none of the big clubs were interested in him. Yes he could have stayed to Brentford or another PL side and got a decent pay rise but nothing like what he'll earn in Saudi. For somebody that's not got £20m+ sat in the bank, I can see why he's had his head turned.
