**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

I cant believe we are letting Senderos go.

We start the summer so well with a decent buy in the position we need STRENGTHENING and then we go and sell Toure. Ok not too bad as we have Senderos coming back from loan so we are still better off. Now we sell him too?

I hope we arent going to rely on Silvestra next season...a year older... a year slower and a year of not winning anything again as our squad goes down again in size.

Oh well...as Baldrick says hopefully Wenger has a cunning plan

Parlour was on Sky last night at yesterday's members day suggesting that Phil wants first team footy. Can't blame him I suppose and he even seems to be behind Silvestre in the pecking order. In these situations its probably tough to hang onto a player.

Interesting to see Eboue there having a good time.

Was watching SSN last night and they were running through the list of players Real have signed this summer but they left one off of the list, I thought they signed some midfielder from Italy?

Or was that just a rumour when things weren't going to plan over the Alonso deal?

I watched some of that members day online, Eboue is the joker that I guess wrighty was, and Wiltord was apparently the life of the team when he was there. Eboue is constantly joking, he's basically the morale leader of the team, when they were doing the crossbar challenge he was setting the ball up for Wenger/Gazidis, everyone at the club loves him. I've said before, at crucial goals they go to him to celebrate, when he got that assist back heel for RVP early in the season as it was finally going right for him the whole team congratulated him rather than RVP.

He'll be a massive, massive loss to the team if he goes which is just another reason he shouldn't. Basically the players, the manager and everyone else at the club realises he's a great player who got unlucky and confidence got completely shot.

But I'd be quite happy to see Eboue and Senderos go to get first team footie, assuming Wenger won't offer it to them. Senderos as a back up isn't good, he isn't a one game player, he's a form player as shown in Champs league/league a few years back, he was superb and got better every game. Really we need to buy a proven back up player who we KNOW can play only in every 4th game and still perform as we don't have any players who are capable of that right now.

We should keep both and play Senderos properly, actually rotate Gallas/Verm rather than wait for their injury, same with Eboue. I still want to know how Silvestre got a two year contract based on barely playing for 3 years and being fairly crap when he did play, yet not offering Gilberto/Pires and others 2 year contracts when they can still play great.

I'd be sad to see Eboue go if only for the fact that he does seem well loved at the club. I think if he goes he'll do some other team a good turn. Yes he can be as frustrating as hell but he has the drive that we sometimes seem to lack.

Same with Phil really. He looks like he should be a good CB and did turn in some good performances. Problem for him, same as Eboue, was when he made a couple of mistakes they were highlighted by the media as though he had started World War III. As fans we also are a lot more unforgiving than I remember. The booing of Reyes seemed just daft at the weekend for example.

Unfortunatley its like that tho, fans are fickle! When your doing well they love you and when your doing poorly they hate your. Part of the parcel i suppose - dealing with ignorant morons!

Along the lines of what I was talking about the other day, according to the echo Aquilani is our first choice to replace Alonso but on the basis that he proves his fitness with a stringent medical.

I was hoping that Senderos was going to take a look at the other CBs and stay for at least another season. Gallas will be looking for a big payday next season which leaves an opening for him. Just wish he had the patience for one more year as backup.

Eboue might be the `morale leader` and your `football friend` but I am sure they could pay a million different people to cheer up the team. £30-60k a week is a bit expensive for a team jester even if he is liked.

He is a great player on his day and works hard but he isnt good enough to demand a starting lineup place in the first 11. I hope he stays for cover at RB but nothing else.

Yeh but you need a decent back up RB - Eboue is that man but its an added bonus he's liked by everyone! It comes down to whether he is happy to sit on the bench. Only he can answer that!

He didn't knock Liverpool's Champions League victory, he just said that Milan owed more to themselves than to concede three in the space of a half an hour or so. Any (sane) Liverpool fan would say that as good as they were in the second half, Milan let them back into the game too; the two aren't mutually exclusive.

SSN reporting that Alonso has landed in Madrid and is about to go have his medical done...so one down and another to go ie Mascherano...thats if Barca get their cheque books out and sign him.

A similar article with quotes was in the Telegraph. Dismissed our chances of the league then took a dump on our Champions League win in 2005. Would've been a thread about it if Benitez had said those things.

No point starting threads on fergie as everyone knows he is clearly mad. Benitez cracking up last year was a novelty for everyone.

Few rumours saying the Valencia friendly United are playing is the result of a major organisational **** up after Fergie instructed his minions to 'make sure we have Valencia here at old trafford before the season starts.' When they brought him the club as well as a player it is said he was not best pleased....

God knows what the reaction would have been had Benitez said anything like what Whiskey Nose said about City. He'd have had other managers calling him arrogant and going against the pale ;)
