**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Agree with that. I think that it will all come down to whether he stays fit; if he misses half of his first season here, then he won't adapt, and we'll be selling him in a couple of years time at a big loss. If he adapts quickly he could be a great buy.

Hold on, has Benitez just taken a risk?

Yep, Aqualini is an excellent player but I'm always dubious of Italians coming over to the EPL and fitting in straight away. Let's hope he does

I'd love huntelaar at the club, him and torres, with gerrard just behind. Only problem is how to fit aquilini and mascherano in

Looks like you might just stick with the 4-2-3-1. You still need a striker that can perform when asked upon. Like its been said, Ngog and Babel just arent good enough. Maybe Babel can prove people wrong this year! You never know.

I very much doubt it's a straight £20m deal. Reports in Italy over the last couple of days have been reporting it at ~£15m up front with a few £m in add-ons.

Baz you never cease to amaze me with transfer fees. You are obsessed with bringing down transfer fees when Liverpool pay them but big them up for other clubs. :p

You do this constantly. :p

Then again, if a club is silly enough to put a Premier League win clause into a player's contract they are selling to Liverpool they really are asking for it to be honest. ;)

Where have I commented on other clubs transfer fees? I just post more reliable information regarding Liverpool's transfers, not the S*n like you :p

The Aquilani deal may not be as close to completion as first thought. Our official site has changed it's story from earlier saying we'd agreed a deal with Roma, to now saying that Roma have given us permission to discuss terms with Aquilani.

Hopefully it's nothing more than technicalities.

Surely it's just a natural progression?

Agree deal/price > discuss personal terms.

Not always. Sometimes clubs get permission to discuss personal terms with a player (as if it's not already been discussed ;)) prior to agreeing a fee, usually when a deal is very close though.

After tonight's game I hope to god almighty that the Silva to United rumours are true, he had an exceptional game

Yeah, I noticed that before. It went from a general feeling of "he's signed apart from the medical" to "we have permission to talk to him". Maybe it was just a bit of over excitement from the web team.
