**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Get in there Arsene quick!!!!

I dont care what positions we need more, that would be a bargain to get those for that price.

SO lets ***** 3-5mil a year on wages for players who won't get first team places, are any of them close to as good as Fabregas, no, do they play in fabregas's role, yes, so would they play.... no.

Theres also a reason those two players are cheap, they never lived up to the hype. Its one thing being fantastic as a one off, its another being consistantly very very good, neither have consistancy and I've only realistically seen either shine against weaker opposition, think Holland early Euro's and how little they performed against Spain. You pay 10/12 mil for a guy whose great only occasionally, you pay £25-80mil for people who are consistantly game changingly brilliant.

Even so, I still consider them a bargain. a lot of players didnt live up to the hype and then came good again once they moved club, there is no guarantee that they would be very very good if they moved of course...but equally there is no guarantee that they would be poor. When I look at some of the players being touted for 10/12 million, I would MUCH rather spend that kind of money on someone like Van Der Vaart or Sneijder (Particularly Sneijder who I think is a class player)

Unfortunately Arsenal aren't the type of team to throw £12m around just because it's considered a bargain!

Don't get me wrong, I'd possibly buy Sneijder, he's completely overrated but not terrible for 12mil, but I wouldn't want Wenger to buy him. He's convinced, for now, that Song/Denilson will work well, which means 12mil to buy Sneijder, and 4-5mil a year in wages, to ride the bench, it would be stupid because he will cost us in two years, 22mil, for a player who isn't first team, a 4 year contract would cost 32mil, and that will mean 32mil less to spend on replacements who'd be first team players.

That my friend, is FAR from a bargain, but an utter waste of money.

As I said, I'd consider buying him but then I wouldn't play Song or Denilson, leaving two spaces for a DM and Rosicky, but assuming Rosicky never makes a real first team contribution, IE more than 20 games in a season, that leaves a first team slot open.

Hope we bring in Brown from Celtic. Redknapp was at the Champs League game watching him.

Would be good backup for Palacios' position IMO or else we'd have to settle for Jenas or Boateng in there.

Well I wasnt really thinking about Arsenal :D

Beckford, I am right in thinking he's the same guy who nearly took a 'keepers head off with a disgusting, intentional elbow to the face?

Not as I recall, no. I wish he'd do things like that (not elbowing players in the face, but putting himself about) a bit more. He's often bullied too much.

He caught Forde against Millwall which he was punished for, but I don't remember it being as bad as it was made out.

I wouldn't want arsenal to sign Sneijder, but VdV would be a good buy. And then there would be no reliance on Rosicknote to get fit.

Fair enough, I haven't seen him play many times so I don't know if he's generally dirty, but this video is quite shocking, can't do that on a football field, way out of line!

Don't see him moving to Spurs just to be a back up player. He doesn't want to move and unless Mowbray wants rid of him, which I doubt, I don't think we'll sell him. Unless you offer seriously silly money that is. ;) We'll GIVE you Donati though, hell I'd even throw Caldwell in as a sweetner. :p
