**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

Luka Modric has moved to distance himself from speculation suggesting he is a target for Manchester United.

Reports had suggested that Red Devils chief Sir Alex Ferguson was weighing up the merits of a move for Tottenham's diminutive playmaker.

However, the Croatia international claims he has no knowledge of any such interest and insists he is happy to remain at White Hart Lane for the foreseeable future.

"I don't know anything about the Manchester United link," Modric told Sportske Novosti.

"I read about it in the newspapers, and one paper even published quotes from me saying I was happy to be on Sir Alex Ferguson's radar.

"But the truth is that I didn't say anything to anybody about this. They were not my words.

"I feel great at Tottenham and I have given no thought to moving to a different club. My contract runs until 2013 and I am just thinking about staying.

"I wouldn't be surprised if Tottenham offer me a new contract as that is something which happens in England. But, even if that doesn't happy, my feelings will not change.

"I am happy at White Hart Lane and I will continue to give my all for Tottenham, as I always have."

Modric has also expressed his delight at Spurs' impressive start to the season, with the 23-year-old of the opinion that Harry Redknapp's side are capable of claiming a top-six finish this term.

"Everything is perfect, I really can't complain," he added.

"I think the main thing is that the team has stayed together over the summer. Now we are a year stronger and also coach Redknapp has made us into a real team.

"The big four are still way ahead of the others, and Manchester City are now a real threat as well.

"But we also have big ambitions. We don't want to talk about fighting for the top four, but our aim is to be in the top six at the end of the season. I think we are good enough to do that."

And so it begins, the start of our next signing from Spurs :D

My view is that Anderson will never be a world class player as he doesn't have the basics such as first touch and passing accuracy down to a top class standard. Every game he misplaces simple passes and miscontrols simple balls and that's just not good enough for a CM at Man Utd, that stuff should be done without thinking

He who rates Alex Song has no part in questioning other players! :p

Well sol to notts county is a done deal by the looks of it. Our defense is currently good in the air and slow, I don't see how he will change that but it will raise the profile of the club and he has bags of experiance. Still an odd move for him must be paying him more than sven.

His experience will be tremendous. Steve Bould played very little for Sunderland but brought bags of experience and taught the defence how to play the offside trap properly. Things like that help.

Anderson made the last squad and scored for them so yeah they must have

I love how you change your argument every time and you've still been proven wrong. :D

'How many games have they played?'
'Answer'
'Yeah but I meant this season'

'Yeaah....well, Anderson was in the squad and scored last time...'

Never ever give up though.

How have I changed my argument? I meant all along how many games this season hence why I said how many games has Lucas had to play and the answer was given Lucas has played 2 games to Anderson's half and so suggest that it was based on previous form is stupid seeing as Anderson scored the last time he was called up to Brazil's squad unless of course despite scoring he still didn't impress something no one hear will no the answer to

Alex Song isn't bad at what he does. Anderson isn't good at what he does.

I'd say it's still far too unclear as to what Anderson is to be honest, he's certainly better defensively than he is in attack and as I've eluded to previously he's outdone Fabregas in the past whereas I cant say Song has ever had a good game against a top team so who knows maybe they'll both end up being DM's

I know who I'd have in my squad out of the two put it that way

Roman Pavlyuchenko wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur after being restricted to just one appearance as an 89th-minute substitute so far this season.

The Russia striker fears his World Cup place is in doubt and told his agent to meet White Hart Lane boss Harry Redknapp for talks today.

'No footballer likes being on the bench game after game,' said the 27-year-old.

'I could lose my place in the Russian squad for the 2010 World Cup.

'I'm ready now to listen to offers from other clubs. But I can't say anything concrete right now.'

Pavlyuchenko had a mixed season after joining from Spartak Moscow for £13.8m last summer, scoring 14 in 37 appearances, just five of which came in the Premier League.

His place in the team was undermined when Redknapp arrived and signed Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe in January, while Peter Crouch has also provided competition since joining from Portsmouth earlier this month.

Roma have tracked Pavlyuchenko all summer and are set to make a move if Julio Baptista is sold to Inter Milan.

Spartak are interested in re-signing him, but only on loan. Lokomotiv Moscow are also keen but need Spurs to accept a significant loss on Pavlyuchenko as the Russian Premier League side are keen to bank at least some of the £9m they received from Everton for Diniyar Bilyaletdinov.
