**Summer Transfer Thread: News, Rumours and Speculation**

No, because all RM would do is overvalue their player and still undervalue Alonso. Straight cash deal was best. Not to mention that neither player is a suitable replacement.

Also, Aquilani hasnt even played a game yet and now he's a poor player?

I wouldn't say that Aquilani is a poor player, but I would certainly have preferred to get Robben and Sneijder over him. This may well be because I know all about their quality whereas I don't know enough about Aquilani.

By all accounts if Aquilani gets over his fitness problems he can be top drawer, so I don't know why people are calling him a poor player. Anyway, he may prove me wrong, but at the moment I'd have preferred Sneijder and Robben.

That doesnt take into account that half of the Alonso money has apparently been used to cover the Johnson transfer, due to the lack of any extra funds.

Always the way when we get a good player playing well..... cheers Bowyer you ****

King, Woodgate, Defoe, Gomes, Jenas and Modric all out injured now, half our first team :(

I put King, Modric and Defoe in my Telegraph FF team on Friday

Any idea how long King and Defoe are out for, I guess Modric is out for a while.

Modric will be out for 4-6 weeks. It's not so much a break as a fracture to his fibula, the non weight bearing bone in the leg so he can walk.

On the bright side, it should mean we either:

1. Start playing Dos Santos
2. Buy Kranjcar or Petrov

Luka Modric has revealed his world has 'crumbled' after revealing he expects to be out for at least six weeks with a fractured fibula.

Croatian schemer Modric suffered the injury during Tottenham Hotspur's 2-1 win over Birmingham City on Saturday after a tangle with Lee Bowyer.

Spurs boss Harry Redknapp initially hoped Modric had hurt his calf, but X-rays have subsequently shown that the midfielder has fractured his right fibula.

He will now face a spell on the sidelines and Modric admits he knew straight away that he had suffered a serious injury.
Worst feeling

"It's like my whole world has crumbled because I will be out for at least six weeks," Modric told Croatian daily Jutarnji List.

"I am terribly sad.

"It wasn't a ferocious tackle, but it hurt awfully and I knew something was wrong the moment it happened.

"The worst feeling is knowing that I will be watching both my club and country from the sidelines for a while."

Modric will now miss several key games for club and country, with Croatia due to face Belarus and England in a World Cup qualifying double-header next month.

He will also sit out the Premier League matches against Manchester United and Chelsea, having played an influential role in Spurs' 100 per cent start to the season.

Spurs have confirmed that Modric does not require surgery on the injury and he is expected back in training in six weeks' time.

Poor guy. :(

Get well soon Moddles. :)

Get a grip, it's 6 weeks, he'll no doubt commit suicide if he ever does his cruciate then.

Still, it's our Moddles. :(

:p

Right after we send O'Hara out on loan too.

Atm, we have Dos Santos and Jenas who can play LM and maybe Lennon.

Perhaps we could go for:

Lennon---Palacios---Huddlestone---Bentley

If Defoe's out like Chong says and Crouch is going to start then I agree completely with Pigeon; Crouch isn't the greatest in the air but as you saw yesterday, he'll get on the end of so many crosses that he's going to be a threat.
