Theres still other talk of Nasri leaving and for quite insane prices, 20mil for a guy who supposedly prefers a creative role and has a total of 7 assists in 3 seasons trying to create goals for others AND a year left on his contract, I'd happily let him go for 10mil at this stage.

He mostly plays on the wing but simply isn't fast enough, get him beyond everyone else on the end of a pass in the box, sure he'll probably put it in, most people do at that point, the rest of his game is lacking enough quality in just about every area. Good, no where near great, but doesn't really have a great position. He isn't fast enough, or a good enough crosser to excel on the wing, his ability to pick out the killer final ball isn't good enough to play Cesc's role, he's not good enough to play as an out and out striker. Thats why sitting inbetween all 3 roles, a winger who comes in too much, a central midfielder who is too far forwards and a striker who is too far back, he looks at his best. Problem is you're better off with either a better winger, striker, or central midfielder on the pitch instead of Nasri.

Spurs seem set on tightening things at the back before addressing the problem with their forwards:

To be fair Spurs do need something else at the back. Ledley king is hardly ever fit, Woodgate has been released leaving us with Dawson, Kaboul, Bassong and Gallas. Gallas fills me with little confidence, Bassong unjustly doesn't really get a look in even when every other CB is injured, leaving us really with just Dawson and Kaboul. We bought Khumalo, but he's not even played a first team game yet. So if they are to bring in one more decent CB i would not be displeased.

But yeah, striking situation needs to be sorted, as does the sale of Keane, Bentley, Palacios, Hutton, Kranjcar ( :( ) , Dos Santos and one or two of the current strikers.

:(

Come on wenger, sign someone!!!!!

I don't understand why you haven't signed any way. I thought you were meant to be getting a lot of money in to spend on transfers. If you lose Fabregas, Clichy and Nasri, what you going to do?! You'll need to replace them, and still have to get a defense in! :D

Sweet.

So that's 50 million down. Who is next? Realistically who are the midfield targets going to be?

We wont sign anyone else now imo

Modric not for sale, nothing suggests we're even interested in him
Sneijder wage demands are too high, nothing suggests we're even interested in him
Nasri wont be sold to a direct title rival, nothing suggests we're even interested in him

Expect a season of Carrick, Fletcher, Anderson & Giggs as our centre midfielders and then wait and see what next summer brings :(

We NEED another midfielder, Giggs will not be a full time player imo. Fletcher/Carrick/Anderson is not enough or talented enough in comparison to the rest of the team areas.

I honestly can't see us sticking with just those 4 for an entire season. Giggs can only play half the games at best and then there are going to be injuries. I have no idea how much Fergy is going to play the youth this year but I still can't see us starting this season with just those recognized midfield players.

Especially after losing Scholes and possibly Gibson.

Everyone keeps saying that but where's the proof that we've got a midfield target?

Even though I wasn't one of them a lot of people predicted we would sign Ashley Young back in January and then that seemed to be confirmed the minute the season ended/transfer window opened.

Likewise De Gea, from the minute VDS announced his retirement De Gea has been the favourite to replace him and what do you know he's now been signed.

So far this summer only Jones has been a surprise signing so whilst you cant rule out the same happening with a midfielder I'd say it's less likely as Jones is a young player being brought in as a squad player whereas any midfielder one would imagine would be signed with the here and the now in mind.

I would have thought if we had a genuine midfield target in mind the media would have picked up on it by now like they did with Young & De Gea, instead all we've had so far is a soon to be out on contract Nasri using us a negotiating tactic to get a pay rise at Arsenal, twitter constantly linking us with Modric despite Chelsea being the only ones that have bid and of course the transfer window favourite Sneijder.

I hope I'm proven incorrect but right now I'll predict that we wont sign any significant midfielder this summer.
