Both have served well. Particularly Palacios who was key to Harry's turn around a few years back.. I'm quite shocked he's gone though. Ideal player to bring on when you want to break down opposing attacks .. Not ideal for keeping possession though.

I remember his debut against Arsenal. He ran around like a lunatic, tackling everyone. :D He was our best performer for the six months after he joined. One of the Spurs bloggers put it best - he looked like a man trying to run a hotel on his own.

Football has changed though. Pure destroyers are out of fashion. I don't think he's ever been the same player after his brother was murdered either.

3? I count Hargreaves and Scholes as theres no sign yet that Gibson is off.

Fergie seems to foolishly have faith in him, and Cleverly is likely coming back to. I see Fergie as thinking he has 3/4 experienced CMs in Giggs, Fletcher, Carrick and Anderson (along with him bunging Park there a couple times) and can slip in either Gibson or Cleverley in when he's able to

If as reported a fee with Sunderland for Gibson has been agreed then Gibson is off, we wouldn't agree a fee with a club for one of our players if we wanted to keep them (not unless it was the player wanting to move).

I can however see like you said viewing Giggs, Carrick, Fletcher & Anderson as first choice with the likes of Jones, Park & Cleverley in case of an emergency.

Obviously hope I'm wrong mind

Manchester City on brink of securing €7m deal for Fiorentina's Alessio Cerci -
Young Italian wide man looks set to leave Serie A for the Premier League as Roberto Mancini moves closer to finalising a deal with the club he coached a decade ago.

First bit of proper transfer work apparently will be done soon.

Thiago has signed a new contract at Barca with a €90m buy out clause.... as if it was in any doubt that they'd let him leave

Ouch :( Oh well. Too Lightweight/Hate the food/Wouldn't hack a cold rainy Saturday at the Brittania/Back Barca bound in 5 years like Fab/etc etc :D

I don't understand why you haven't signed any way. I thought you were meant to be getting a lot of money in to spend on transfers. If you lose Fabregas, Clichy and Nasri, what you going to do?! You'll need to replace them, and still have to get a defense in! :D

We SHOULD have enough money to spend, somewhere around £40-60mil although it's unconfirmed. Out of the teams at the top I think we run the biggest risk of being booted down. United are spending, Chelsea are spending and City and Liverpool are spending. Money doesn't always equal success but it sure helps! I'd like to see some new additions (1st team players) before pre-season so they have a chance to gel with the team. If all the teams were to go into next season with the current squads we'd be lucky to get 4th. I don't see anyone significant leaving, however I wouldn't mind seeing the back of Denilson, Rosciky, Song and Pat Rice!

Don't you worry, we'll have Titus Bramble signed up by the end of the week. :)
:D

I'm still unsure about Song, he picks up far too many unnecessary yellows for my liking and is he really the best defensive midfielder that we can get? I doubt he'd get into City, Utd or Chelsea's starting 11 and he's more of a backup player in my opinion. We could be drafting in some decent French defensive midfielder. I'd like to see Gonalons the young guy from Lyon, he's 6 foot 2, only 22 years old and is a proper defensive midfielder, not an Alex Song who thinks he's the next Messi with the gaps he leaves in midfield.

Denilson and Rosicky should go, both on good wages which could be spent on others, Rosicky was injured for about 20 years and now just gets 10 minutes at the end of games, probably one of the most pointless players we've signed in the past few years. I'm not sure if Pat Rice should leave, what input does he really have? As far as I know Wenger does most of the training himself, we need some new defensive coaches as Wenger really doesn't have a clue about it. I don't see why we can't ask some of the old players like Dixon or Vieira to come back and help with defensive drills. I'd have also said Tony Adams but he seems happy to be coaching We Hate Vowels FC or wherever he is.

I think the best signing for Arsenal this season would be to bring back Martin Keown as a coach and promote Steve Bould to No2. Last time Keown was coaching Arsenal? Run to the 2006 Champions League Final. Record breaking run for not conceding goals. Bould, apparently, isn't a yes man and likely to question Wenger, get him to mix it up a bit.

Other than that the usual exodus of players I have posted before. Clichy, Almunia, Manone, Squillaci, Denilson, Rosicky, Eboue. Fab or Nasri, Bender or Vela.

Bring in Samba, Vertonghen, Baines, Gervinho, Mertesaker or Hangeland. And a right winger. get Walcott playing off RvP sometimes, in his preferred position.

Song is a bit of a mixed bag. He's had an OK season but he just doesn't look like a DM, I could hack away at players and bomb forward without really doing anything! I don't really know much about DMs but Song doesn't look like the kind of player a premier league title challenging team should have anywhere near the first team!

Pat Rice doesn't seem to do anything and he looks like a top yes man. Bring in someone who coaches defence and make him the assistant manager, we need someone to be screaming at our defence to wake the **** up sometimes!

Viera has been released hasn't he, he could be decent in a coaching role!

How come united have announced De Gea already, don't they have to wait for the 1st?

Can only be official on the 1st but can announce that on the 1st he will officially be announced type of announcement... OR do easy thing and wait till the 1st :p

Think you are being a little harsh on Park - Cleverely (because of experience mainly) & Jones (because its not his natural position & experience) I would totally agree with you

Anderson promises much but is way too unpredictable in his quality to be relied upon as a main CM imo (but he could surprise everyone still and really step up)

I hope you are wrong but suspect you could be right

Would you prefer we buy a seemingly overpriced Diarra or no-one at all? :D....... (or even Nasri for an excruciating £20m)

As part of a midfield two Park's a liability, he was at fault for not only Ramsey's goal against Arsenal but more importantly Messi's in the final. As part of a central midfield 3 he works well as he plays the supporting role to the central striker in that formation but I suspect that formation will be used very sparingly now next season what with all the wingers and strikers at the club

Fair point - I would think 4-3-3 will still be a preference in a lot of matches though (and Park can still be utilized on the far left, where he was prefered to Nani in a lot of tail end games, and Young wont play every game there either).

You may well end up right, but for what its worth that was my thinking process :)

edit - not to mention rumours of him being shipped out to Bayern or somewhere (that would surely be a sure fire indicator of at least one CM coming in) ....not that there is much actual fact connected with said rumours lol
