He's only said that to drive the price up, £30-35m+ for Modric and they'll sell him I bet.

would say that Modric is much more valuable now than Berba was when he was sold......so I wouldnt be surprised if it was much nearer £40m at least (depending on how many other clubs put in official offers of course)

Nice one Levy. :)

Tired of the media agenda behind this one. Why on earth are they pushing for a move to Chelsea? They translated an interview with Modric in Croatian as having him say he'd like to go to Chelsea, but not once was Chelsea mentioned.

Any more updates on arsenal? Aren't all back now. I prefer the players to be in the company of wenger than their agents.

Hoping for that miracle mega signing that makes them all stay including fab.

We can only dream lol

They can have our riff raff though ;)

Martin Lipton in The Mirror writes...

Inter open the door for United
Manchester United were last night given the green light to make a £35million bid for Wesley Sneijder, as Inter Milan admitted they are considering selling the Dutch midfielder. Sir Alex Ferguson's quest for Sneijder appeared to have gone cold when the former Real Madrid schemer suggested he planned to stay at the San Siro. But new Inter coach Gian Piero Gasperini is now ready to sell the 27-year-old after completing the £10.8million capture of Arsenal target Ricky Alvarez from Argentine champions Velez Sarsfield. That opens the door for Fergie to make his move and land Sneijder as the final piece of his summer transfer jigsaw

Only under 28 and only with certain time left on it.

Not exactly, over 28s can buy out their contracts as well.
Basically the deal is this:

Signed current deal when under 28 = must be 3 years or more into deal
Signed current deal when over 28 = must be 2 years or more into deal

Now in the case of Modric, he signed his current deal in summer 2008 so will be eligible to buy it out this summer. He signed a six year deal so would have to pay 3 years salary to Spurs (and possibly a portion of his original transfer fee, not sure).

However, supposedly there is a "gentlemen's agreement" amongst top clubs that they won't exploit this rule to bring in players from other clubs. Obviously with Spurs not being a top club however, this may not apply, theoretically Chelsea could give Modric £10m quid for him to buy out his Spurs deal or whatever.
