I think for a club of Arsenal's size and stature within English football being "happy" and aiming for a top four finish is poor. Especially given the calibre of players they have (or had until recently) and the style of football they play.

A lot of people would agree (including me), but what can the Manager do about that? If the board are happy coasting a long, bringing in the champs league money, there is nothing he can do.

And I do strongly believe it is them and their very tight wage structure that is causing the problem with the kind of signings Arsenal make. I can't blame Wenger for them, since the quality went down since Dein left, so it would seem all Wenger does is tell the board the players he thinks would suit the team, and they try to sign them.

Then obviously, he gets blamed for being tight and not willing to buy in decent players. :p

Properly gutted about Raul...

We've essentially swapped two very average players in Henderson and Adam for two good players in Aquilani and Meireles. What a downer on a great summer. Couldn't we have given them Carroll instead. :(

It got to the last day and you threw big money on a signing that in fact turned out to be average, the last day forced a panic buy. Pretty poor price as you had been tracking him for apparently ages. :D

Come off it it was always going to cost in a region of 30m to sign Berbatov. It went to the last day because of Levy not through lack of trying on our half

Wouldnt worry about, it, one in one out, Liverpool have loads of money, sign some one better next year.

Decent signings from Arsenal but it's not going to make them title challengers this year. They're squad is still so far off United and Citys that I don't think they have a chance. I still think they'll be lucky to get 4th spot.

I can see Pardew becoming Wenger.

"well we had a couple of players on the radar but they werent available, we do have Ben Arfa coming back from injury so it will be like a new signing for us" :(

A double deal by Aston Villa to tell you about. They captured Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas on a season-long loan and have also brought in his Spurs team-mate Alan Hutton in a permanent move, with the Scot signing until 2015.

Can you actually quote me? No didn't think so.

And yes Meireles was one of your best players. He was pivotal to Dalglish's early success last season and along with Suarez got you over the line in your win over Arsenal. He's a better player than Henderson & Adam also

My lack of effort to quote your entire post means i am incapable of doing it at all? Okay.

Yeah really enjoyed Raul having to get Gerrard how to show him not to pussy out of a tackle at OT, which by the way he still shouldn't have been sent off for or that ridiculous dive from berbatov.

Yeah was is pretty past tense, he was for a few matches at the start of Kenny's reign, was pretty poor before that and a bit of a luxury to have in midfield. Also not all of his goals really won games anyways.

Completely different player to Adam, one can play center midfield and not get caught of position constantly and pull out of tackles like a pussy. Again Henderson has years ahead of him and much more potential and looked very good against Bolton, infact 6 of our shots came directly or indirectly from him and his creativity. Raul didn't do much until January was it?

And you can say he got us over the line if you wish, could argue any fresh set of legs against a 10man, second string arsenal side would have got us over the line.

Good business for Arsenal, a few players with good premier league experience and the others being established international players. Wenger should've pushed for Samba tho.

That 8-2 massacre might just turn out the best thing that happen to Arsenal this season.

Imagine if they had drawn 1-1 or something and didn't buy anyone. Losing 3 points and bring in some more players will probably work out better in the course of the season.
