Really, normally you kids hate going back to school.

I used to enjoy School, I haven't "been" to School as a pupil for a number of years now ;)

If you're of the age where you don't go to School, I'm genuinely shocked that you're this dense, I'm failing to comprehend it.

Please, stop posting. Log out. Don't come back.

You've been picked up on the fact that you know nothing about how forwards play the game.

I don't want to take my Transfer thread even more off topic.

:o

I've always maintained he's an average player who punches above his weight due to an unbelievable workrate and versatility.

If you want to talk about opinions changing overnight, the entire country hated him until he had an OK (just OK in amongst a den of mediocrity, not world beating) world cup in 2006 and then all of a sudden he was the best thing since sliced bread. In 25 years of watching international football I have NEVER seen opnion change on a player so fast.

I saw him in Germany a little bit, enough to know he was a good player so my opinion on him never really changed. I've always rated him quite highly.

I think his biggest problem will be getting back in to competitive football, it's been almost 2 years since he's played an significant football.

LOL you have already demonstrated your naievety by revealing your football knowledge is derived from a couple of books.

In addition, you clearly stated a strikers main job wasn't to score.

This is so lol-able, I had to rub my eyes in disbelief that it had actually been posted.

Still, at least I can add such weak knowledge to my ignore list.

Hargreaves was a GREAT player. Now he is not.

Im surprised that Man U didnt at least weedle some cash out of the stupid Sheiks wallet.

That was the main surprise for me.

Your not serious?

Well Yaya leaves in Jan for AOC and anything can happen there. Barry and Milner could for example both get injured v Bulgaria leaving De Jong who Mancini is apparently looking at selling anyway. So he isnt particularly needed but is good cover.

There is no negatives from this deal imo. We have kept Johnson on for 3yrs and he has played 20mins i think.
I think if Mancini is willing to keep Johnson for so long then why not Hargreaves.

He could have retired but i think its admirable/good that he hasn't and he has gone out of his way to try and play again. Not many would do the same.

Errm, Johnson has a contract and no one is going to buy him on the hope he is eventually fit. Which is why no one bought Hargreaves when injured and now he's a free agent some people think he's worth the risk.

As for admirable and not many people would do the same...... I don't know of many players who have had insane injury trouble that don't struggle on, most people don't make 1k a week let alone 345k a week, struggling on........ on 70-80k a week isn't "that" much of a struggle now is it. In reality Hargreaves could have retired and saved Utd a lot of money and get fit on his own time.

I'm not saying he's a money grabbing plonker either, just, theres a pretty significant motivation to continue trying to get fit...... I don't think many members of this forum wouldn't struggle on for 5k a week, let alone the 20-30k he's probably on at City nor the probably 80k+ he was on at Utd.

Its also worth pointing out that, you sign a contract, get injured on the job, why wouldn't you be entitled to be paid the full contract. You're putting your health and fitness on line for the money you get paid, thats part and parcel of buying and paying players, theres a risk any of them could get injured. Most players get injured in training or in matches, lots of players still get injured doing other things but most of those can easily be traced to tiredness, overtraining and essentially being injuries caused by being an athlete.

Not sure if Cudicini got paid while injured or not, as he most certainly didn't get injured due to football, and likely had a clause saying he wasn't allowed to ride a motorcycle, anyone know if he did/didn't get paid?

If we're still on the homosexual subject, I'd like to remind people that Phil Jones looks like a lesbian :)

LOL

I actually think Hargreaves might fit in well @ Man City ;)

hahaha, looking gooooood.

On the subject of City, when is Tevez going to stop sulking and actually do what he is being paid ludicrous amounts of money to do ?

His behaviour has been disgusting, I hope they have punished/fined him in some way.

A strikers game isn't just to score goals, it's a team game.

Football is a funny game, there will be someone who will come in for him but more fool them.

;) well done! haha

A forwards "over all game" has developed as have tactics, a forward has much more to his game then just scoring goals, he's the focus of the attack, he's there to create and build as much as he is score goals.

The modern forward also defends quite a bit.

Before you come in here spouting **** about a sport you clearly have a lack of understanding about I suggest you go away and read some books and read about some of the greats of the game and how they've influenced the modern game.

Two books off the top of my head; The Ball is Round and Inverting the Pyramid.

I didn't say his job wasn't to score goals, There is just far more to a modern forwards game then "just" goals. RVP is a good example, he's good at doing the forward "work" and scoring goals.

I'd like you to point out where I said the forwards job isn't to score goals? I've said that the forwards game has developed and there is much more besides goals that is required from them. Would you like me to quote you saying Strikers should only score goals?

Don't talk such utter bull in future.

I've read many football books, articles and even had some articles publish about football, I watch and listen to football from all over the World, so excuse me for knowing a little bit more then your average "nahh lump it up to the big man up top innit" type.

I've been around here a while and I'm always interested in other people's opinions on football. I was genuinely shocked at your opinion on forwards, mainly because it's bull. I was not the only one who pointed this out, several other people did. You ignored them though, and you've not posted about that subject since which makes me thing you were just trolling.

You want your strikers to do nothing other then score goals? That's cool, might struggle at sunday league level let alone any level of professionalism.

Put me on ignore? No. Log out. Don't come back to the forum. Seriously. Go away.

You're arse must be jealous at the amount of *** your mouth can produce.

Welcome to my ignore list :)

i wish i was still at school, first school that is. i would do ssssooo much differently but the internet wasn't invented in 1986 and i can't decide what i want more.

Sorry, has Tevez not done what he's being paid to do? So far he's not been picked but he hasn't refused to pay. Equally last season, depsite wanting to leave, he was City's best player

And answering your previous post asking why Utd didn't get any money out of City for Hargreaves, it's because his contract was up and he was on a free transfer :)

Stupid Sheikh......:o

When its a free transfer how can that possibly happen?

Hence why i said Mancini just tear up his contract and let him go. I never said sell him to someone.

Not many players would have suffered the injuries he has had and still wanted to carry on coming back.
Quite a few would have just retired.

Sulking? What has he done to give you that idea? just hand in a transfer request but weeks/months later bang in goals to get us CL qualification?

He has since moved his family to Manchester and apparently his wife is liking Manchester more now....so it looks like he will be staying.
