And now all that will happen is come January we'll hear about how his family 'tried to settle' over the past 6 months but just couldn't get used to it, so he wants to move for them etc etc.

Still, tool or not he's still a City player, which as everyone else was hoping this time 4 months ago he wouldn't be, it's pretty good :D

Much as i dislike City I would love it if they did well with Kun and Dzeko up front and Tevez didnt get a game.

He is easily the player I dislike the most in the PL and it has nothing to do with going from United to City (I genuinely hope Hargreaves gets back on track for example).

It would be absolutely hilarious if he is sitting on the bench until January and suddenly his options are limited.

Yeah absolutely. After his little tirade about being the most important person at the club it must be galling for him to watch us bang in goals for fun without him.

He'll get his share though. If he's fit I expect him to start at Wigan. Our CL group is obviously pretty darn hard so we can't really field a weakened team for even the pot 4 team (Had to be one of Napoli or Dortmund ), plus away trips after Villareal to United, Liverpool after Napoli, and Chelsea after bloody Bayern Munich

I was quite surprised at how well received the CL was in the media as i thought it was fairly tough. Regardless of having a big squad of class players there is a learning curve when you go to playing two vital games a week. Spurs found this out and even though City are obviously better equipped it will still take time i think.

It certainly took Sir Alex a number of years to learn how to rotate the squad so you can do yourself justice in the CL while at the same time keep your domestic form going. It will be interesting to see how Mancini does it.

Wasn't it someone from United who said they preferred playing games midweek rather than training as it kept them more on their toes, so to speak?

I've honestly no idea how he's going to do it. Balotelli would be a good shout against Napoli for both being familiar and looking like someone with a major point to prove, but that's about as far as I've gotten, and he still needs 10 more blokes alongside him by my maths. Will certainly be good fun though whatever happens, still crossing my fingers for that away day to Barcelona! :D

Yeah in 99 when we were on for the treble the players said it was great cos they were playing every 3 days and didnt have to do much training! That was really from Easter onwards though, when every game was vital. Its ok to do that for a month or so but the addition of CL games throughout the season really makes a difference to how clubs approach games.

Obviously im not a City fan(!) but much like Spurs last season, its good to see different clubs in the CL and how they cope with it all.

There has been huge amounts of waste at City and personally i think a loss of identity, but for the first time since "the project" started there is actually the makings of an actual team. Interesting times ahead!!

I'd be amazed if the Tevez situation is anything other than his family moving here on a temporary basis until Corinthians come back with the same offer in January at which point he'll finally **** off

If City are top of the league and going well in the CL at Xmas and Tevez is playing regularly i'll be interested to see how important Corinthians are to him come the Jan transfer window.

Unless I've missed something here, when Corinthians were asked to prove they could afford the (knocked down) fee for Tevez, they couldn't. So why are people assuming he'll be off there in January?

They could but they said they couldn't get it in time to get the transfer done.

So many assume they will have it all in place for Jan so he can go practically straight away.

Maybe Im missing something but surely Mancini already has 4 years of CL experience that SAF has only got from being at Man Utd , not only that but its pretty fair to say that in SAf's first few years (like most of the EPL teams) there was a much more evident 1st XI team, and then the rest of each squad was a lot less experienced. imo its a lot less clear cut these days with the top four or five ( with Arsenal being the exception thats been the case for years) having really only 1 top choice gk but other positions being reasonably replacable without too much effect on the team.

(Yes I know SAF had success with Aberdeen, but I dont think that can be compared to even a season of CL experience)

Spurs never had that kind of squad - yes they have a decent 1st XI (with some world stars in amongst them) but out of the top XI a number of the other squad members are a bit iffy (and thats because they have never had the money / repeated success that the clubs around them have)

I cant see City having too much issue with their group to be honest, they may get the odd quirky result which means they end up 2nd instead of 1st but they will qualify for the knock out rounds

I tried to say that i was using spurs in terms of change of mindset rather than strength of squad.

I know what you are saying but for me it is still an issue.

City, for example, may have four decent strikers but it will still depend on how they are deployed if they have two tough PL games with an away CL game in between.

Im not saying it cant be done but i am saying it requires a shift in priorities.

I have my doubts about that. It struck me as nothing more than a PR stunt.

I actually thought the sticking point was to do with Tevez going back into 3rd party ownership. Basically going to Corinthians for a knocked down price to get him out of his contract at City (which we seemed happy to do to get him gone as he wouldn't be playing for anyone in direct competition with us), but then Kia selling him back to a top European club for less than what we wanted, but still a hefty fee. We obviously wanted a clause writing into the sale that he couldn't be flipped to a European club within 3 years (or thereabouts), which negated the whole point of selling him to Corinthians anyway (from Kia's point of view at least). I think the money in the end was just a convenient excuse to not go through with the deal.

All very convoluted, but they were the noises from the ITK's around the time of it happening. Seems easily plausible given the involvement of Kia too.

Like you I'm sceptical we'll see Corinthians come back in for him in January. Seemed like a last chance saloon to get him out of the club cheaply which failed. The noises coming from Tevez regarding being happy to stay in Manchester further tallies up with the idea he simply has nowhere to go.

Why not Inter?

Rumours of Fulham/West Brom after Degen on a free transfer. Not sure how good he is, was he the injury prone one at Liverpool?
