His first full season in the PL was on loan at Swansea. He scored 5 goals in 31 games.in his first full season in the prem 19/20 under lampard he scored 15 prem goals he can cut it in the prem
Kinda of glad we didn't spend the £LOL money for Maddison, partly bc I don't think he deserves the "banter" he would get associated with when we fail to score any goals.
As Baz says, no one is saying he is ****, hes just nothing special. Chelsea haven't been robbed here and I don't think they will miss him. I don't think people are going to be talking about him in the same breath as De Bruyne or Salah.
Tammy is a decent striker, top goal scorer at Chelsea last season, only playing half the games as Werner.
Nah Werner will come good. He just had awful luck last season and was still an effective player for the team. With this years changes to offside I think he will score more as well. There were so many times Werner had the ball in the back of the net only for an offside to rule it out.
Abrahams stats also aren't as impressive as you are making out.
In PL/CL he scored 7, assisted 4 in 27 games.
Werner scored 10, assisted 14 in 47.
Abrahams scoring roughly 1 in 4 and assisting one in 7 and Werner is scoring 1 in 5 and assisting just under 1 in 3.
Werner has always looked like a player a hairs breadth away from being amazing for Chelsea. Abraham has always look OK with the occasional flash of something more.
All opinions obviously. There is a reason Chelsea have just paid £100m for Lukaku. They clearly don't trust either of them to lead the line and win the PL/CL this season.
Werner has always looked like a player a hairs breadth away from being amazing for Chelsea.
At some point Werner's going to go on a run where he scores 10 goals in 6 matches. Everything up until his finishing is top class and even the poorest finishers will go through spells where they get it right for a period.
He's not an out and out centre forward who you want to lead the line or even be your main goalscorer but as a 2nd striker playing in and around a Lukaku or off the left, he's an excellent option.
I can see Lukaku and Werner actually doing quite well together.Wasn’t he known as a lethal striker in Germany though? I’m sure I recall him saying he didn’t like or wasn’t expecting the PL to be so physical.
I think he’s a good player as well, I wouldn’t exactly say he runs around like a headless chicken but he reminds me a bit of Firmno or Giroud (later with France) in that they are there to help others flourish but will never score that many goals. Even with the millions of chances Chelsea created last year. I can see Lukaku scoring plenty this season and Werner playing just as much.
He's always been known for missing lots of chances. He scored his fair share of goals for Leipzig because he gets into the position to score a lot more than most other forwards do.Wasn’t he known as a lethal striker in Germany though?
I like Werner and I want him to prove everyone wrong this season, but this is miles away, he was woeful in front of goal all season. It feels like another Torres where his confidence is completely gone and he's got the yips. Very tough to get over. Like you say, Lukaku coming back doesn't bode well for him.
130 million and i don't think we're any stronger. Utterly shambolic.
Yeah its quite impressive to have spent the most but improved arguably the least out of the "top 6".
Arsenal have to spend more just for average players, they definitely aren't the same draw as when Wenger was in charge.
Different times, unfortunately most of the fans are still clinging onto the old glory days. How long has the Arsenal rebuild been going on for now? 15 years+
