Superdry - how warm are their coats??

Fashion jackets are not for every day use imo. You can wear these superdry jackets when you go out in evenings or weekends but using it on your commute you will probably get cold as they are not designed to be jackets that keep you warm. Especially the ones that require a scarf.

If you live in the UK then surely theres no such thing as a lined coat thats not warm enough? My current coat is this;

http://www.joebrowns.co.uk/sp+men-coats-and-jackets-nato-forces-jacket+ja084

Its a dyed up Nato surplus with no lining but a very dense thread count and nothing gets through it and I would say its warm. Any coat with a decent thread count and lining in the UK will be more than adequate for every day use, unless every day use includes sleeping rough, hiking up Ben Nevis or hour upon hours outdoors in exposed terrain in it.

Not warm enough to commute in? are you saying he'll get cold from his house to the bus stop / train or his car?

You can get "warm jackets" from fashion brands, to say otherwise is just, well, a bit silly really.

If you want to wear a thin jacket and claim you warm enough then go a head. man up am i right? In my opinion, personally, i find thin jackets and jackets that don't have a high collar and require a scarf do not keep me warm enough.

Most of the fashion brands are thin and low quality for what you get. Unless you spend lots of money.

I have a coat like this http://www.marksandspencer.com/pure-wool-checked-coat/p/p22229152 and i find it worthless. It may look smart but it is does nothing when its cold but get in the way.

Couldn't agree more with most of the statements above, Superdry are a "fashion" brand, if you want a waterproof/windproof coat or jacket then pay good money and get one.

I have a Jack wolfskin 3 in 1 Jacket very similar to this one http://www.jack-wolfskin.co.uk/canmore-jacket-men/5006951-1010004.html I've had it for 3 years, still looks brand new and generally speaking when the fleece and outer jacket are worn together it is far too warm.

But wear the outer jacket all year round and it is totally waterproof, windproof and keeps you at just the right temperature.

The fleece Im wearing today and it keeps me nice and warm.

I only wear the fleece when it snows or when it is in the minus. Most of the time a wooly jumper and the outer jacket keeps me warm enough with north face beanie. I agree with tube and warm jackets being rubbish. Especially in the run up to winter and early spring.

Just pick a budget then do some shopping around with your new found information.

Not sure why people are linking jackets for £2-300 though. Doesnt really help the OP at all.

Never seen such rubbish in my life.
Try a coat on, if you like it, get it.
Don't ask people online who will just pretend to be Gok Wan and tell you their own personal favourite fashion, whilst telling people their fashion sense is rubbish.
Like a bunch of teenage girls in this thread.

I wasn't asking for fashion advice. I was asking for advice on whether they're warm or not, because you can't tell that properly until you actually wear them outside. As far as I know, Superdry do not have a market stall.

To be fair, everyone has different tolerances for heat so someone could say its warm and others not. Unlikely to get your answer either way.

Hah that's true, but if everyone came in and said, they're **** I feel colder wearing one than when I'm outside in my birthday suit, that would have given me a good impression of how good they were :p

I just went to the shop to have a look at them. That one I was after isn't actually in shops yet, only online it seems.

I had a look at some others though. I'm a large, and comfortably so, which is good! I'm not keen on the crinkly material on the outside, although I did see a similar one which had a soft kind of outside, which was alright. The lining seemed a bit thin in the one I tried on, but it was a kind of lesser version of the one in the OP. The number of zips is absolutely mental. There's 3 and they go up and down. Nuts!!

New plan is to just go shopping on Sunday and see what I find.

Try the flagship store somewhere near Regent's Street - they had a bunch of stuff in there that was otherwise seemingly only available online.

There have been days in the UK (not so much in the last couple of years) when I've combined the liner from my M65 with a winter parka and been glad to have the combination available but its not something I've needed often.

If I'm buying a winter coat even for the UK though I'd buy something that is suited to a few degrees below minus if it comes to it and decently waterproof and that level of preparation has been the envy of my colleagues at work on more than one occasion.
