Tabletop Warhammer?

I keep trying to make DE lists but none of them ever feel quite right. I think DE suffer the most from the changes to assault (or perhaps Tyranids) and while you can take a shooty army, I feel if I'm doing that then there are races that do it better. It doesn't help that a lot of the interesting units are a bit crap (Hellions, Mandrakes obviously, others to a lesser extent)

Trying to decide between Tau and Tyranids for our game! Apparently there is a Tau module for Battlescribe somewhere so I'll look for that later and post the details, it's a PITA using Excel!

I have a Royal Mail card sat on my desk. I'm a bit excited, it's possibly the new paints I ordered. Or it could just be boring and happen to be some acrylic medium. :p

In celebration of my new job, I think I'm going to purchase myself a nice new paint stand. Any recommendations? I've been looking at this one, which is cheap and nice, but only holds 52 Vallejo-style bottles. Ideally I'd want something that can hold more (closer to 100), but their large one is too big to fit in the space I have available for it. This kind of thing would be perfect, but it is quite pricey! If I had the tools, I'd have a go at making one myself, although it would probably look pants. :o
 
Also your Deathwing would be absolutely destroyed by Tau, Riptides can get interceptor for 5pts and drop a strength 8 AP 2 Large Blast on your tightly packed termies...before they even get to fire :D

I looked at paint stands but I think I'd probably try making my own if I ever did.

When I have a mucky garage or shed to put it in, sure. But I kind of like my bedroom to look good! :D

Can't decide whether my cultists should have a really bright look to them, or if I should make use of some heavy inks to give them a more grimy, dark feel. Certainly don't want their weapons to be too shiny.

Hmm, I also need something to store all my minis in... :(

Just seen Warhammer World is running enter the citadel the day before my birthday and battle brothers the day after. May try and go to enter the citadel not sure I know anyone to take to battle brothers. Shame its not a single player event.
 
I wouldn't mind going to Battle Brothers, but I'm stuck in the same situation of not knowing anyone around here that plays the game and I have no finished minis at present. :(

Also, not having a full grasp of the current rules is probably a major problem. :p

I will have my chaos done in a couple weeks (then I start Tau) then im hoping to get a game a week at the local store so I would be pretty sorted i think depending if I can get even more games done.
 
Once i get my order from mythreal and i have completed then i am thinking about doing the tau as i have traded my DE for them off my Bro lol. i am stuck on a colour sceme i am wanting a urban feel to them, thinking about dark grey armor with a lighter grey for the none armor bits and a bright orange bits for like the pads and things. (also may be thinkiing about doing the white theme but not sure yet haha)

What do you think would be a good colour
 
Why are Citadel's Edge paints more expensive than the rest of the range? :/

Still trying to put together a palette of colours to cover the models currently on my desk. Has anyone found any particularly good yellow paints out there? Last time I tried Citadel's and VGC, they were a little poor.

Get out of my head! My plan for Tau is basically the reverse of yours with the light grey armour and darker fatigues. Or something darker anyway. Need to get as far away from pink as possible.

haha ya will have to get some pics of them once they are all done like. yeh im not sure yet as it will be a while until i get them started just got some stealth suits and troops atm haha

Be good to see. Im a way away from starting Tau and im just stealing my scheme from WD anyways. All ive decided on is I wont be doing the usual tau scheme. Ive still got 4 Noise Marines, 5 Terminators, 8 cultists and a Forgefiend and then I can start playing games and very slowly working on Tau as I want that to be my main force and im re learning painting with my chaos and taking what I know and (hopefully) making my planned Tau look very nice. Also means I can play games and wont be tempted to rush the Tau stuff just to get games in.
