Tabletop Warhammer?

Hi,

Thanks for your insight. I have been using black on my models, have a salamada party that is going to be bright orange, so will probally use white on that one.

I must admit I have not done anything with my bases, I know I probaly should do, just deciding what to do, might just use some of my mates son's play sand and a pot of PVA lol

I think I am going to get a KR case next payday, as seem amazing value for money, was looking at the alu double case, same price as the GW large case but get so so much mroe in it and custom bits for my Lizard men as well :)

Don't have anything big yet, biggest is Kroq-Gar but he is metal and yet to be painted

You will want to pin Kroq Gar with him being metal, it is a difficult model to built. When pinning, you need to drill a 1mm hole in the part and insert a paper clip, add a dab of paint and press onto the part, drill 1mm hole there and glue, the paperclip will pin the pieces together ;).

Regarding the sand, try and get some coarse sand, failing that, I have found Bird Sand to be VERY effective as it has tiny pieces of shell in it also.

What's the best way to achieve the 1mm hole? Use bog standard cordless or is that a bit too big for the job?

I bought a pin vice kit of eBay for about £3 with a selection of drill bits included, keep them in my Paint box with my files (from eBay again, Gale Force 9) and knives.

Cheers

Even better, I'll trawl my purchases and link you the one I purchased.

Few months back I invested in some new brushes, nothing special, just 3 Winsor and Newton Number 7's...VERY nice to paint with, just a wee bit expensive, but I would suggest the W&N Artist Water Colour Sable - Round, Sceptre Gold II Round and Galeria Round brushes, cheap and nice to use, the Artist Water colour being my number 2 brush (7's being first choice).

The Pin Vice set I got was same price as this but was a double ended version, I shall be buying the one I just linked when I get paid, looks MUCH better.

Thanks for the link, dumb question but do you just do it by hand or use it in some form of tool?

Use it by hand :). Unscrew the drill end, insert bit of choice, screw back shut and then use like a normal drill, but twizling in the fingers if you understand?

I used to be well into warhammer when I was a kid (and 40k) but my budget would only stretch to buying the books and pretending to play in my head.

I loved blood bowl though! My fearsome team of Skaven - The Reservior Rats - went an entire season unbeaten :)

Now I'm grown up (well physically) and have a proper job with disposable income me and a friend have been getting back into 40k. I've always had a soft spot for the Tyranids and was hoping one of you guys here was knowledgable on them so I could ask some question?

I mostly just paint (see my many pictures in this thread) but have played a few games with my tyranids, what did you want to know?

So, the new 6th Edition is coming out, and there has also been a massive price hike (£20 on boxed army sets). Unsure if I will keep my army going...

If I do keep my Eldar Hybrid army going, I would LOVE to blend the rules of the Dark Eldar and Eldar together, unsure whether this would be allowed, but it would be a shame to sell my DE codex as it was signed my the master of twisted thoughts himself, Phil Kelly...

A few of my friends are really into war hammer so I decided to take the plunge. I decided to go for the space wolves so I bought my main box set for £60 and all I needed was a HQ to get me started so I went into the games workshop to buy my Logan Grimnar HQ for I think £14.50. I ended up spending £165 on various other items oops.

I have built most of what I have bought except for my drop pod and my rhino just need to clean up the models and get them painted

So who pre-ordered the new rules for next weekend, and if you did, which version did you get?

I went for the collectors version. I love the fantasy battle colelctors version that previously came out, so it was an easy choice - well apart from the £80 it cost!

Im really thinking about getting back into this, after seeing that awesome rulebook. The thing is i dont know anyone in my area who plays it and also im not sure a 26 year should be playing with stuff like this:p
But i really do love the lore (ive read all the Horus Heresy books apart from the primarchs) and got a lot of there video games.
Apart from the rulebook that i really want, whats the best thing to buy first. Ive noticed they do a starter set of some paints and a handful of models.

any one still play necromunda? used to love playing that when i was younger, still got all the bits somewhere in the loft, i might drag it down one day.

bakes 26 isn't too old for it, one of the friends I play with also does military wargames, and some of the guys doing that are in their 60's :)
You're only too old if you're not enjoying it:p

The new rulebooks they are doing are very nice, especially the ribbon for marking your page etc (and the new hardback codex's are a big improvement on the paperback ones, although at a cost).

I'm not going to get the new rule book straight away as I don't need it (I don't play that much, and my next few games are likely to be fantasy).

Famas, I've never played it (I think my brother has the box of it somewhere, I know we have/had Fantasy and 40k in the 2/3/4th versions), but some of the guys I play with do still play it, and from memory the rules are available free online now and you can still get the models via mail order :)

Cheers werewolf i knew i was being a bit silly, one of my old mates from school used to play it with other 4 brothers and his dad (he had a custom white scar army) and we had an amazing time.
Anyway ill buy the new rulebook, and if that doesnt convince me to get back into it, i dont know what will.
So does that mean black reach will get replaced with a new boxset game with the new rulebook?

Gone daft lately. I am plugging through Necron Warriors and a Necron Destroyer that I've just primed. My oh got me some Necron Immortals which can also be Deathmarks. The plan is to make a diorama with a Monolith.

Bought some Chaos Marines too which I will get around to. Still got Ultramarines to get painted up as well as some Ork Boyz.
