Tabletop Warhammer?

would the colour change depending if there was one underneath?

Depends on the spray.

For example, retributer armor spray definately is affected by the primer color, ive just had to strip some deathmarks because they were black primed and the color was well off what it should have been.

And I've decided to abandon fine lining for now - just dont have a steady enough hand to get the right consistent pressure and I end up with half a beautiful line and then a splodge. Might have to go back to dry brushing for edge highlighting for now until the fine motor control improves.

I promised myself I wouldnt buy any new nids, the models though are just absolutely stunning.

Instead bought a void dragon to do next :)

We (well, my kids) picked up a squad for their mum's birthday. She's not into WH40k but thought this was worth a shot. She complained about it being a sexist present lol as she would have preferred Eldar but has done a great job painting them.

Couldn't justify the stupid prices for the larger paint racks, so grabbed myself some drill guides and a few off cuts of acrylic and built this. It aint pretty but its functional until I can spend a bit of time to make a really clean one.

Total cost under a tenner.

Sent airbrush stuff back, waaaaaay to much of a faff with the maintenance/cleaning. I'd rather stick to the occasional spray can and just stick to good ol brush. Don't have the patience for the cleaning, added clutter too.
Glad I tried it though so it isn't a persistent feeling of what if.

Finally settled on which paint to use for the Death guard. ****** the GW into the drawer. All AK will use the GW shades and contrast.

What yah think of the cooper colour for the death guard trim? I have Bronze and light bronze from Pro Arcyl but one seemed too dark and the other too light. Plumped for Pro Arcyl copper instead. Has a more reddish tone than yellow me thinks.

Also I can’t rave enough about Vallejo model or game metal Air silvers. The below was one coat without thinning. Complete joy to use with the cheap brushes I linked a few pages back. The feral did drop off but I glued back on lol.

Looks good, metallics are a pain

So I've been on the look out for a couple of decent brushes for fine detail but wasnt quite ready to jump up to the Raphael / DaVinci / Newton / Artis Opus quite yet and I think Ive found a good mid point brush after a wander around in Glasgow. There is a great little shop called Draw ( https://drawartstore.wordpress.com/ ) who specialise in sourcing quality artists’ materials and fine stationery from Japan, Europe and the US.

After speaking to the guy he recommended Kum memory point brushes made in Germany. Just got home and had a play with some of my nids and I'm seriously impressed with the brushes (c£4 each). I got the Size 0 and Size 1 and at first impressions I am really liking the quality and most importantly the tip on the brush.

Sounds good. I got some AO brushes and can't say I was that impressed compared to some of my cheaper synthetics even.

Started assembling the void dragon today, this will most certainly be sub assembled for painting.

But what a model, it just has such a gravitas about it. Compared to a transcendent ctan which just looks like an afterthought.

So I will get a picture up shortly but im sure Im not alone in that feeling when you think you have painted all your small nids only to discover two of the little buggers who were hiding and still just their basecoat on :/
