Tabletop Warhammer?

i have heard of those types of paints, but even airfix have the paints needed, you can get a airfix colour chart that gives you the codes for games workshop paints. and they dead cheap!

Anybody got any recommendations on what paints to use? Was using the Citadel paints sold by GW recently but have been reading a few people recommending the Vallejo paints.

The 3 i mix and match are -

Citadel ( Games workshops)
Vallejo
Army Painter

All pretty similar, so i just pick up whats on offer or cheapest at the time.

Right those bases....facepalm lol and the reason for this....Because using smaller bases makes it hard to pile in during combat, with new rules not sure if it would still be bad thing but even so it spoils the models using those bases

Yes. A 60mm base painted up with texture and highlighted will bring them up good. I got some arrid bases for my Um Terminators and they cone up good with a basecoat, wash and drybrush to highlight.

Nice, don't buy loads of new models right now as there's rumors online that they having TAU updated like chaos have been recently, im hoping they do asap because TAU need help when it comes to having close combat abilities

Again not been in the hobby for a fair while but can't you use some kroot units to close the gap? I remember then having awful ranged skill but close combat they were decent.

Well they are near enough to ork standard because of sheer number but their amour value are dreadful. The key is when using kroot with TAU is to basically use kroot as distraction only, don't rely on them doing all of your combat needs because they will fall very easily.

Another good thing about kroot are the point value, they are insanely cheap! hence why they are used as allies along side TAU. But im not a fan, personally i much prefer defensive/firepower armies and TAU are THE best

^^^ bump it up!!!

So just to get the ball rolling again, what would you say was your finest moment in 40K i have a few but just quick example, I once killed a bloodthirster (back in 4th edition rules) with a full squad of TAU gun drones, now that was epic! his jaw just dropped after he rolled like **** load of ones! haha

Hi

I've never played Warhammer before (I'm now 32) - heck I've even mocked people who have but...

Two of my colleagues at work asked me to attend a game with them this week and it was kind of enjoyable :o - we're all noobs and it took us 3 hours to play 1 turn each (3 armies on same battlefield) but we are going to make it a more regular thing so things should get more pacey.

Now if I'm going to play, I want to immerse myself in one good (preferably beginner) army but (more importantly) one that totally pwns :p

My one colleague has a starter Tau Army (I like their sniping ability) and my other colleague has starter Space Marines and Orks (all unpainted as we are just beginning) - he is willing to give me his Orks.

Should I take him up on his offer and become an Orkish Warmongerer or what other Army should I engross myself into? I know they have have they strengths and weaknesses but is there one that stands out?

Once I have made my mind up i'll get their codex and learn their abilities etc (I take it that's the thing to do?)

Thanks for any suggestions :)

Right well if you were to walk into Games workshop they will give you a mock up game to show you basic rules, it can be very tedious as they explain backstory and stuff which has no use to you at this stage (selling technique)

They try and make guys go for starter set which contains space marines as they are the best start up choice for new folk. But i went with TAU because i like defensive/shooting armies, TAU being the best imo. So i would say TAU but they are difficult to battle with.

Just go in store or look it up online to see if you like the look of them and there abilities. I think I read that a few things got changed with Orks in the latest edition such as Waaaargh no longer allowing you to run and assault :(

Orks have some crazy models that just look awesome and crazy. Good thing about them is you dont have to paint them in any kind of uniform way like you would with nearly all other Warhammer Armies..... I have to admit I enjoyed painting them more than I did Nids or Space Marines. But then I do love a well painted Nid army :)

I'm looking at starting back up with some Chaos Marines just in the process of convincing my gf that its a good idea :)

Yeah isnt going to well at the moment but she knows I'm watching things on Ebay and have been bidding on a few things. Ill just pass it off as a Christmas treat to myself :)

I'm currently checking ebay for some terrain, people say make your own which is great but i need enough for a 4x4ft field as soon as possible :)

I'd like at least one hill, a bigish building for the centre and then some trees and maybe a few ruins and craters :)
