Practice makes perfect! If you or anyone ever needs tips or suggestions shoot up some pics and I'll be happy to help with any pointers.

Ive tought tons of people to paint to a decent standard, my apprentice you shall become :D

Think my biggest problem is not having very steady hands go in for fine detail on something and seem to have a mini seizure lol

Id upload a warp talon that I have done, Ive only just started but I dont think its that great tbh but my brother thinks it looks good. I think I am missing some highlights though but any pointers will help.

I am currently only using Mephiston Red as the base coat

Ive orderd some more shades of red (khorne Red, Evil Sunz Scarlet)
I also have Runefang Steel and a grey texture paint - Never used one before

But I have never Highlighted before so some pointers would be great :)

How do I add photos to this thread?

Upload to a online program such as photobucket, then copy the
link they give you for that photo. That would be the easiest way I'd say.

my first 3 chaos space marines complete except for a few small details.

Not the best but if you could make it better what would you do - I am limited with some paints but I think I have everything covered with highlights but not sure how to go about doing it

They're absolutely fantastic for your first models. Very very well done.

As for critque, have you gave them washes / highlighted then? Also also put some gravel on the bases seal it with watered down PVA and paint the bases that'll make the models much nicer with no more painting.

Edit: if anyone is in there local hobby shops and sees any metal thousand sons models please give me a message via trust.

Basically what I did was put a base coat of Mephiston Red then used a black wash to bring out the creases - I havent used any highlights because I have 2 light shades of red in the post and for the bases I ordered some grey texture paint? dunno how that will turn out. going for street bases rather than grass/sand

P.S Thank you for the support :)

Sounds cool.

As for the texture paint I like just using gravel ( buy a huge bag from b&q) and gluing that to the base and then painting it. I just use cheap arcrylic paints that aren't made for miniatures for doing bases etc and just thinning them down.

It looks very well far better than my first models I painted so keep at it.

Texture paint seems a waste of time. Hugely expensive and does not cover evenly. Better off with PVA glue and some cheap sand.

Try to avoid black washes for general use. Use dark browns instead for shadows and you get a better effect. The best used to be Devlan Mud which was replaced with the less useful Agrax Earthshade from the Citadel range.

Army painter do a product called Strong Tone ink which is a 99% match to Devlan mud and great for shading.

That Tau scheme is so clean and crisp. LOVE IT!

I really need to get the rest of the army done, EVERYTHING is basically done, but all heads need finishing, details and guns...so...really, only bodies and bases are done :(

Dug out a couple more of the Tau. 3rd Broadside had its first 2 coats of white with the airbrush tonight. Should make a nice little squad on the tabletop. The Remora was actually a test model for the colour scheme as they looked cool. Really should get around to doing the other one!

Currently working on a couple of Tetra's which I should finish next week to bring some Markerlights to the game. (I think I may have a Forgeworld habit!)
