TERA release date announced.

The combat system is really good fun, and the graphics are great. But unfortunately that's about it. The quests are uninspired and leveling is just an utter grind. End-game RAIDS and PvP are pretty decent, but only if you make it that far before boredom sets in.

It is great, until you hit 60 and realise there is sod all to do. I hope the recent server merges have boosted Velik's population because lower level players had no one to play with. Either way:

* Quests are uninvolving and not remotely interesting. Granted quests are always boring but these are REAL bad. There is little variation in the types you get.
* Euro Tera is run by a complete bunch of clowns - the main reason I quit in November.
* The game feels uninvolving throughout.
* Crafting is a disastrous timesink. Why bother spending time crafting and gathering resources when top end loot is readily available from newer dungeons?
* Mobs drop sod all loot/money so be prepared to grind like never before.
* Although enchanting has been 'fixed' (see easier) it is a core part of the end game and a colossal goldsink like you've never seen.
* The Unreal engine is poorly optimised for high end rigs. Frame rates of 4fps (snow joke) during Nexus Events that have around 100+ players in one area very common. The engine just cannot handle it and you will have to turn down settings to Low.

On the plus side combat is absolutely awesome - way better than Guild Bores 2. My Lv60 lancer was just sheer joy to play with and it took me about a month to hit 60, back when it low level areas actually had players mind you. I met/know a lot of awesome players and Veliks is a superb PvE server.

Tera is a great game just unrealised. Euro Tera was always going to go F2P thanks to the sheer incompetance that was Frogster/Gameforge who ran it. At least they're 'planning' to finally add a cash shop, we've only been asking for one since day one.

I though Tera was really good with some best gfx mmo can have, and runs so smooth on older computers too. Sadly there wasn't much content once you reached max level. I was max level and had all best gear within 3 weeks of Tera release, might download it again and play some warrior for fun this time :)

So would you play on US servers instead?

If one could handle the higher ms ping then it would be worth a shot. One of my friends on Euro Tera said she had 300ms pings, so PvP was pointless but PvE was just bearable. As they get content faster from the main developers Bluehole Studios. Euro Tera gets content last.

At the end of the day the core game still has flaws in places and shifting to the US side won't help. Anyhow, the game is F2P so you chaps might as well check it out. There will be tons of low level players out there to team up with - and a lot of complete clowns who want to see bewbs only :o :D

Im not amused that vet users get shafted over the paid tera club - I know why there doing it but its a big 2 fingers up to those that invested and paid there way in the game.

Tera is a great game btw, yes the grind is tough post 40 but combat is brilliant, dungeons are incredible , Im hoping the new content patch will add a good couple of needed things into the mix.

I hope more of the community get into this game, there was a considerable amount of circle jerking for the trash that was GW2 that this was never really explored - yet this is a considerably better game in pretty much most aspects.

I've seen this is going free to play.

I bought it ages ago online, played for a couple of months, but then cancelled my subscription.

But now, when I goto the site, it says I am not registered?

If I bought the game, but cancelled my subscription, surely I should be able to re-establish it??

Yes, providing you have put in your correct account details...I tried my account, that was cancelled around Oct-November last year and that was accessible just fine last night.

I can't see the clowns at Tera EU wiping inactive accounts already tbh.

Very tempted to try this since its going free to play!

Average download size ? Im guessing somewhere close to 17gigs...

are you trying to login via the forums or the my account section? had this issue last night, you have to go to the main page to login, as the forum bit uses a different sign-on procedure that have to enable by ur main account - bit confusing.

Just rebought this for £7, NA version from direct2play. Installing now :D

good choice, i dont have a NA account myself, but thought about it- the way they ****ed up the EU version was pretty terrible.
