Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

Tunnel to hell has been done since the first multiplayer version came out :p Thing is, wait till you find it's flooded with lava and you burn alive hah


Oh and try dinging right to the bottom of the screen and walking along the edge of your monitor, i did this for the first time on an ocuk server :D

The actual tunnel worked yeah. We built a huge reservoir just above hell so it could collect. Even then the sea still had water in it. Unfortunately we couldn't flood all of hell with it as they patched it in 0.5 :( It gave us enough water to mine through all of the lava right down to the bottom though so we could collect hellstone with ease.

- Build a house so you're protected from the zombie invasion at night. You'll want to craft an anvil, workbench and furnace. You will use these to craft items. Make some room for chests too.
- Start collecting ore to make better armour, pickaxes and so on. The tier goes copper -> iron -> silver -> gold then you have various ore above that such as demonite and hellstone. You don't need actual recipes to craft new stuff, just the materials. Armour, pickaxes and so on usually just need a certain amount of smelted bars. Potions for example are a bit more random in the materials used though so you may want to refer to the wiki for such things.
- The best stuff is found in chests although the rarest item in the game (sunfury) has a small chance of dropping from a creature in hell. I'm not sure which but I just randomly found one in my inventory :)
- Once you meet certain criteria, merchants will move into a suitably built house you have made for them. Check the screenshots in this thread to see examples.



There isn't a single objective within this game. You do what you wanna do within the limitations of your character.

Thanks for the tips, running around like a headless chicken at the moment. Do the houses on the servers have these items?
 
Had a fun time building a ladder to the top of the sky, base jumping off it and saving myself with the double jump :D

Also made the grappling hook, makes mining so much more interesting.
 
Thanks to the OcUK members who have helped show me the ropes, very helpful :)

Going to start mining offline for a bit - absolutely addictive game. Didn't believe it at first. Glad there are new people here too like myself. Much more fun on the OcUK server!
 
Only had a quick go on single player to get the hang of things after picking it up today.

Going to have to jump on ocuk server soon too :)
 
*seems to have spent half a day on this game*

Is there any benefit to going on the MP server? Given that atm I'm still learning the ropes and it sounds like people have already populated/mined a lot of the map as it is...
 
Perhaps we could start a new server for new players? I don't really want to do the boss battles on my own, imagine it would be more fun with more of us. Mass mining missions might be fun too and a large base.

ive tried goign on a couple of times and i just get owned pretty hard so i think i will get myself some gear offline first
 
i will suggest this again in the morning for old players like myself, but what if we had a new large world again, but this time schedule a time where most people can join and all create new players, have a mass build'a'thon and see how quickly we can gather the resources to build a huge city again. i think the steam sale has had a great boost for the ocuk terraria server, and at last when i log on there are a few people on.
