Terraria - Dig, fight, explore, build

Edit: Flibby - are you sure he isn't stuck nearby? My Dryad got stuck and I had to "escort" him into my house.
Not as far as I know, I often venture out both ways since jungle and dungeon is on the right and the corruption is on the left but not seen any of then and can't remember seeing any notices to say they have appeared in the bottom left corner of the screen :(

Flibby: I only see 4 habitable rooms in that building. The room to the right of where the demolitionist is standing has no table, and the room above that has no table, or door. The floor at the very bottom has no artificial lighting or door. Try fixing the above, and perhaps they will move in. :)

I had a fiddle with the rooms. I removed the workbench from the empty room and the furnace from the attic and adding a table in place of both. The Demolitionist then changed rooms and he's in the attic now leaving the two 2nd floor rooms both empty so hopefully the Dryad and Gunsmith will move in :)

Kinda weird though as the official wiki said that a table or workbench is fine, either/or, and doesn't need to specifically be a table... maybe the Dryad is just picky :P ta for the help!

According to the wiki, NPC rooms need to be 10x7, though they have moved into your other rooms.

I now have 380 hp, a full suit of gold armor and weapons, enchanted boomerang and a trident ...

And I still got killed by the eye of cthulu :(

I whittled it down to 800 HP, but forgot to watch my health and ended up dead.

I think it half depends on the arena you fight it in. First time I fought it I did so on ground level with no way of seeing or hitting it when it was below me. Second time I fought it I did it on top of my house so I could see it all the time and hit it when it went over the sides. Was the difference between it surviving with 500hp left and dying shortly before dawn with a Vilethorn and Enchanted Boomerang. Try building a sky-arena with wooden platforms and the odd building block so you can place torches.
Might be more successful if you just used a little dynamite to blast through to your first Shadow Orb and get the Musket, then buy the Pistol from the Arms Dealer.

Regarding those rooms. The house seems full of contradictions. The uninhabited room is identical to the nurses room and I'm not entirely sure it should be valid as a house. I'm sure I read on the wiki that NPCs don't like shared doors, they need 1 each for it to be considered a house/room, but that contradicts the nurse and merchant. Tbh though I'd recommend either starting again or simply expanding the whole house as you're going to have to accommodate more NPCs than you have rooms either way.

Meteor Heads really are quite easy once you figure out just how weak there defence is. With a full set of Jungle I can practically spam Vilethorn without penalty and all it takes to kill a Meteor Head is a single cast. Basically I just sat there mining and swapped to Vilethorn now and then to kill the Heads. By the time I'd done mining there must've been 2 or 3 gold worth of coins lying around.

It is a little weird, and as Evilsod said, your house already defies the information in the official wiki. Did you have any other houses before building that one? I'm thinking it might be possible that if you did, then the NPC's simply moved to your new building even though it doesn't meet the normal requirements. Bit of a long shot, but worth asking. :)

I see you have Night's Edge powelly2010, thats my next plan after getting a molten chest plate armour piece. Whats in your 4th quickbar slot? I could use a good ranged weapon.

Just looked at that PC Gamer link - Biome Castle and the Stately Terraria Manor are amazing!

The 4th thing is the ivy whip - upgraded version of the grappling hook.

How do you plant regular mushrooms? Those are in huge shortage now that I've planted my own blue mushroom farm.

Those buildings in the PC gamer article are unbelieavble! I want to make something like that, but I dont think I have anywhere near enough materials, and no dungeon coloured bricks yet :(

I've personally considered trying to make a regular mushroom farm. Much like a blue mushroom farm but above ground and obviously a lot bigger.

The farm you've made could be improved by changing the platforms so that you move through the farm in an S shape (if you get what I mean). You could farm things a fair bit quicker that way.

Damn that first 1 is impressive. The windows look awesome, the checkered room and the green room below it looks pretty damn good too.

Powelly never came across a Pinky before? :p I've only ever seen it on my stone tunnel over the Corruption (twice). Always drops a gold coin which is nice.

Are you wearing a Goldfish Bowl as a helmet? ><

The first game I played I was instantly attacked by a pinky. Hitting it for 1 damage a time was certainly 'fun' (think I quit out actually).

Heh shame you didn't stick with it then really. Would've dropped enough to immediately 'summon' a Merchant.

This is going to be funny. Playing Terraria on my gfs brothers i7 + 6990... it'll really strain it :D

YAY! I killed the eye of cthulu using this platform :)

I whittled him down to 1500 HP with the boomerang forst, then stuck into him with the trident for the second half.

I got enough demon ore to make a lights bane too :)

Mines ok, I have gaps down the middle to jump up and down though:

Though I dnt think the musrooms can grow on the top right platform because there is an unremovable dirt background there, but I read that once the seeds are planted in a suitable environment, they will continue to grow and spread over any background.

I'll try to dig up a schematic of what I reckon is optimal (:p) sometime. Quite interesting about stuff growing up towards the surface though. Didn't realise that - now to make a surface blue mushroom farm :p

Yea the blue mushroom seeds will grow vertically up walls :)

I'll find out after some time if they can grow beyond the stone background if it spreads to the upper right platform. If it works then I will build more platforms upwards instead of going further down.

I only planted one seed at first, then a few others that dropped from the farm.
