*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

The only UK supplier I coud find was on Amazon which stocks it for £45 (£52) delivered which is £2 more than an hour with my eosteopath. Foam rollers can be had much cheaper but as I mentioned they loose their shape after time. Quite expensive but should prove to be worth it. You can of course make your own with some drainpipe and some foam as it'll be just as good I just couldn't be bothered!

OT: Looks like I'm taking myself back to 'squat school' as my technique has gone totally to pot. Leaving me with horrific back pumps due to hyperextending and poor hip drive and glute activation. My desk job can't be helping at all.

Front squats with my heels raised feel great back squats feel horrible, akward and ineffective at the moment. I know where I'm going wrong it's just a case of re-teaching myself.

lol dude, you never really answered my question?

i take it you bought from the usa then? from the supplier you linked to? as amazon is really expensive.

Is there any particular reason people leave their legs to the last day of their regime?

What would be wrong with hitting your legs hard on Monday and working the rest of your body afterwards?

In fact surely if you hit your chest/shoulders/tris on Monday it would make more sense to do legs on Weds and back/biceps on Friday?

so they can rest them over the weekend? most people dont work weekends, so its easier for them to recover and due to legs being sore making you walk funny, etc. its best to recover when your not up and about.

I'd leave my legs till the end of the week but because I work at weekends and my job involves walking around all day, it would be extremely impractical, so I do them on Monday + Tuesday to allow time for recovery!

It's a sucky way to start the week but it gets it out of the way!

I just know I'm going to be in bits this week.

First heavy leg day in weeks.
Squats all the way to 150 for reps.
Romanian Deadlifts to 110kg
Along with all the other leg stuff.

Plus did abs for the first time in a year!

hanging leg raises
Weight leg raises and declined crunches +30kg.

Feel the burn, burn the feeling.

Wouldn't say it's chunky. More of a:

Like pudz, his waist is probs 40 inches, but solid wall. Also you probs find it easier to have your abs out at a higher body fat. My body fat has to be right low for me to get my abs out lol.

Yeah, my abs are out quite decently despite being around 15-16% - not bothered about abs, my core is more important to me. Abs are for bodybuilders and teenagers to woo little girls. I'm after women who like real big chunky men! ;) :D :p

LAst day? I do mine any day of the week, I don't have a set day for the gym. I think you can either fall on your arse or it can help if you do that... rolling days are fa more flexible IMO.

You mean shoulder press presumably?

I do them, find it easier :o...well, less akward
Well the only difference is you lower the weight behind your neck instead of infront. You use a wider grip and don't lift as much as a normal shoulder press but it targets the delts nicely.

Yes I did, just not obviously :p

I brought it off a seller on Amazon as it was about $80-90 shipped from the USA and would likely end up with some customs charges on top. Also much quicker. The chaps based in Ireland I ordered mine on Thursday last week and it arrived yesterday so is a quick service,

Not sure if I can link as it's a competitor. The seller is 'IrishFit' alternatively just search 'The Grid Roller' and it should come up.

Mate, I start Monday with Back and Tri's, and Tuesday is my leg day........ Triceps I enjoy, but back and legs actually destroy me, but I know if I saved either of them for a Friday, I'd get too tempted to say "hey, the weekend starts today.... Let's just go home!" ;p

Well this is a pleasant surprise.

No DOMS at all, not in my legs or core today.
Hmm, maybe it's just too early for them yet.

I'm hoping none show up, as it means I'm 90% back to where I was before injury. :D

Here's hopinh for non crippling legs and core. :)

Tuesday is now my legs day too, used to be Friday

But Tuesday is so much better, as I'll be honest, I don't enjoy legs that much, they just make me feel so ill and in pain after :p so getting them out the way means come Friday when I'm usually knackered, I'm doing Back and Bis instead, my favourite, which means I still put as much effort in as I did at the start of the week

Excellant :) Glad your recovering

I'm still a mess, arm still clicks when rotated, just leaning on my shoulder arm ends up nagging it.

And to top it off, i'm on an estimated 10 week waiting list to be contacted from the NHS again for a physio! Due to staff issues or something =/

This sucks, big time, i feel all fat, and really not in the mood anymore :(

Seen a guy at the gym today doing Incline DB benchpress with 45kg i asked how did he manage that as he didnt seem big at all infact quite average looking. He said he managed to do get from 30kg to 45kg within 2 months by doing 5 sets of 3 reps and his weights just went up really quickly.
Sort of tempted to do that myself see if it works.

Tripples are good. I did them for a while. Probaly be needing a spot for safety reasons if you're going to be playing around with 90-95% of your 1RM.
