*** The 2010 Gym Rats Thread ***

Might as well be wearing a neck brace with this bloody siezed trap/rhomb.

Squat form is still not right despite pushing my knees out. Bar positioning is fine must be to do with my hip drive. Feels fine till I come till parralell then it just feels akward and in effective. Front squats feel fine but they made the strain in my trap worse so had to quit. Bit of a ***** quad session.

Don't know what happen to my squat technique but it's annoying as hell.

Just got back from the Gym was Legs day, did a PB of 110KG for 5 Reps on the 5th set.

Not in FF's league I know but I am very pleased and feel like I am making good progress with legs at last. :)

had my body fat measured yesterday (electronic machine so nt sure how accurate) - was 14.5% is that ok ?

Electronic machines aren't really accurate at all - if that were an accurate reading then I'd say that's pretty good, lower than me at any rate! :)

Don't compare yourself to me dude - challenge yourself to beat yourself! :) I'm fairly ordinary compared to many others here - however thank you for the flattery :)

Great work, it's nice repping out at significant weights - makes you feel alive! :)

First time back in the gym for about a week and a half, I'd missed it but my leg's still not happy. I did do some light squats on the Smith machine at the end just to see how bad it was, oddly there doesn't seem to be a problem there but it's just getting up and down from a seated position that tends to send a twinge down my leg.

Just to let you know, it seems I'm getting back into gear with my training!

Arm feels much better lately and managed to get back to 180kg deadlift at least!

Also got my new clip for my dipping belt recently, a monster of a thing.

Guess what, that 30kg dip you liked from me so much? It's old news now tonights dipping went like this:

BW for warmup x10
+10kg x5
+20kg x5
+30kg x5
+30kg x5
+30kg x5
+40kg X5
+40kg X5
and +40kg X5 :cool::p

Hope you like that ya bugger :p

Still had enough in me for 40kg Skullcrushers 5 reps x 3 sets aswell. :D

Let the competition continue!

Seems my shoulder injury didn't go away after all :( Or I'm just unlucky with the shoulder press :p I've been doing perfectly fine for a few weeks since the last over head press problem with no signs of a problem at all and then BAM last Friday I over head pressed 60KG 5x3 and on the fourth set it felt like someone had snapped my arm off at the shoulder :( Very sharp pain which now feels a bit like burning, It's been pretty sore ever since.

I went sraight to the doctors who had a look but couldn't see anything obvious, She said it doesn't look like a muscle tear or a pull and that it could possible be a small fracture from the last time when I had the original shoulder problem about 9 weeks ago or the tendons around my shoulder are giving me problems (Rotator cuff) so I'm booked in for X-rays and have to see a specialist on Monday.

Bit of a pain in the ass because it means I've got to take time off again :( and because it's pretty much the exact same injury except it bloody hurts more  So I'm just hoping it's not too serious that a bit of rest won't fix.

I've never been able to do dips or chin ups/pullups or anything like that coz I've always weighe too much. But when I started I was taking 80kg off myself with the dip machine, and now I can do it with just taking 25kg off myself, so maybe a few more years I'll be doing just bodyweight.

Love dips, for some reason they've never been a problem with my shoulder. Got BW+60kg for a double a month and a bit ago, hopefully looking at BW+40kg for 10 with my HST cycle.

No shame in using assisted, I often jump on for the sake of a few drop sets :)

^this

it took me while untill I could do dips and pullups as well, I've learned that using a bench to stop up and just then lower yourself on the negative very slowly helps a lot.

people are usually about 50% stronger on the negative part of an exercise, so if let's say you can comfortably lift 100kg, you should have no trouble doing the negative on 150kg without killing yourself.

Chill out man!

After you last said that I went away to do 30KG dips and my shoulder is still hurting so I've taken dips out of my routine altogether, I'll let you temporarily take the spot. Seriously strong though bud, keep it up!

These DLs are really starting to take a toll on my body. Ah well, who said it was going to be easy? 4 weeks til show time ;)

I think I'd have rather broken my leg than strained my trap! It's that inconvienient. I was hoping to train today but I'm going to be enjoying the break until it's fully healed.

Tasks that are now made difficult:

Getting in the car (dipping my head down)
Getting my right arm vertically up.
Sitting up from lying down.
Rolling over in bed.
Eating cereal
Brushing Teeth
Bending down.
Looking in any direction quickly.
Getting chin to my chest/shoulder takes about 10-15 seconds.

Feels very similar to when my tibialis siezed back in July/August. The muscle feels very dry and frictional not to mention painful.

Even just holding onto 60KG was tugging on it after I decided to do some grip training after my leg work out was written off because of it.

Ahh well could be worse! Deffinatley won't be straining to crack my neck ever again!
