*** The 2013 Gym Rats Thread ***

Worst nightmare. I've fractured my right hand and the consultant has advised me to avoid weightlifting until the end of February.

So angry, I had a really intensive regime planned and coupled with the fact I'm doing the Dryathalon I was hoping to make huge gains this month :(

I'm going to concentrate on leaning out instead. Anyone got any tips on how to maintain as much muscle mass as possible. I'm going to be doing loads of cardio, specifically HIIT and core/mat work. Once my fracture starts healing I might slowly introduce stuff that doesn't place too much strain on the hand, i.e. squats. Any other advice? Going to take BCAAs and maintain a high protein diet.

Is it sad, that I'm overly excited about the new gym were getting built?

Supposedly more racks, lifting platforms for deads etc. One of the guys is talking about setting up a powerlifting club too! Not that I'll be in the same league as some of the guys but be nice to see more of it going on.

Is that at Lossie? What the hell are they doing at that place? Last time I was there it seemed every building was condemned/overgrown/covered in scaffolding/flooded!

PS, get on the powerlifting club as a volunteer/secretary/organiser/etc. Get mentioned in SJAR as secondary. Get promoted. Profit. :p

That reminds me though I need to do mine for this year and sign up for the comp.


Also, starting my new training phase tonight, it means I squat bench and dead lift everyday ;). Gunna be sweet :D

I've got the comp form ready to go. Following the comp prep ice posted in my log. So this week is heavy triples, max effort, max 3 sets.

Yes mate, the rub hanger was meant to be temporary due to flooding but its more or less permanent now. As for the rest of the buildings, yeah pretty much its a shambles sometimes.

Always, always building work going on. I don't pay too much attention anymore though, I work over at Kinloss just live here.

I shall, need to find the boy that was going to organise it not seen him since.

They haven't looked like that before.

I'm pumped for this comp, also we have conformation of big fat sexy welsh 300kg squat man being there so its going to be even better!
