*** The 2013 Gym Rats Thread ***

This might be a daft suggestion so perhaps wait for wiser advice but if you've gone as far as you can with a strict OHP and are still getting stuck have you tried treating the last few reps as a push press of sorts to get the bar up there and then just focusing on lowering the weight under control?

Very much this. As long as you are doing the push press correctly (i.e. not just OHPing with terrible backsnapping form) this should help.

Pushpress is awesome. everybody should learn to do this.

Practically speaking, wozza - didn't you also hit a wall on your dumbell bench, too?

Apply ismilar remediation (lower reps, bigger weight, etc.) and see how you go. Or... eat more, sleep more. :)

OHP is hard as, anyway. :)

Can't be bothered with a new thread buuut...

So been gyming it about a month now, twice a week for roughly an hour. Not a lot but 2hours more than what I used to :P
At the beginning I felt like the fat I had was slowly coming away but over the past week or so I feel like I've piled it on again. I feel..almost saggy around the gut and moobs again.
I'm not vastly over weight at around 76/78kg and 5ft10.

Is this normal to revert back?
I haven't changed my diet and I feel like I'm actually doing more cardio the fitter I get. I also feel like it when I look in the mirror that the belly is a wee bit more out there again.

Eugh rage! OHP I can't seem to move any more weight!
I've been following your progress logs (stalker? :D). Your overall progress on everything lifts-wise has in fact been poor. Far below what was attainable in 6 months worth of proper work. This is unsurprising, however, for the simple reason that you are not eating to gain. Go into bulk mode on the diet front and you'll start to see progress like you never imagined. I understand you are reluctant to do this and want to be leaner. I'd really recommend picking one strategy and focusing on that.

It's all in the diet......

I've upped my calories and have been trying to clean bulk if you get me.

Yea my progress have been poor not but wanting to make excuses I have been working long hours in addition to studying so I've not been able to dedicate as much time as I would like to the gym.

I also don't think I am built the same as some of you lot considering I hit my walls a lot earlier on weights which is frustrating.

I don't think they could possibly make it any more straight to the point. If your weight isn't doing what you want it to (whether that be going up, down or remaining the same) then your diet is the first place you look to fix, always.
