*** The 2013 Gym Rats Thread ***

Snapped something up in my back last week when i was out cycling sprint training, stupidly i didnt bother letting it heal and just ploughed though 4 days on the weights, anyway, done legs today and almost dropped the bar on the squats when it went again, really need to learn to stop training when im hurt!

Any good vids for bent over row form? I'm doing it knuckles facing away at present and I'm going pretty horizontal with my back. I think there's probably a better way of doing it.

Someone did Upright Rows followed by Shrugs in the gym today. I could just imagine Ice screaming at them xD

Funny how the people who do these weird things are always pretty small. But to be fair everyone does it. When I started this game I was convinced I was gods gift to training and that I had it cracked. If i methodically hit every muscle one by one just right id quickly be the best there was. Right? Well it's not so easy and yet it is easy at the same time. Squat Deadlift and go. And if you wanna be big well... There's only one way sadly.

Pendley rows are odd. Not done them...

Been going off of this:

That's how I do them when I want to shift a lot of weight, it does allow for quite a bit of cheating. Nothing wrong with it as long as you are capable of keeping concentration high enough to keep all the stress on the lats... not something beginners are capable of.

Balls. How would you do it as a beginner then? Anyone feel free to weigh in..

Don't, not until your back is 100% and you can get your hamstrings in the right position.

Aye :) Figured my hams wouldnt move that far anyway :p

If you get a sec could you check my deads out from friday? Monkee brought up some interesting points

My comment regarding beginners was about the cheating and being capable of keeping the stress on the lats. I didn't mean beginners can't do BOR's like in the video ;)

For beginners I would recommend performing them like in the stronglifts link I gave earlier. It will help build a solid base but you really need to concentrate on getting the form correct and posterior chain setup right to avoid injury.

Less weight?

It's at like 40kg max ATM, less weight isn't an issue :p

I knew BORs could be done like in the video, but would be better for whatever way to build strength etc....

May be best to move over when there's someone to show me how to do them properly mind...

Pendlay rows are wider grip and pull higher up the chest. I think. :)

Those in KD's link are what I call bent over barbell rows, but either is a great fun exercise... Probably one of my favourites. :)

This is a great point for many exercises. Cheating to overload and cheating to lift more than you can. This is because when you are new to lifting you are only lifting the weight you don't really care how. When you get more experienced the how becomes everything.
