Quick question.. Do you include the weight of the barbell in your totals or not? I never have done but was chatting to a mate and he does!

Why wouldn't you? It's part of the weight.

Most of our barbells/dumbells are built to be the weight they are with the bar as well to be fair, and an oly bar is an extra large plate you're lifting...

Yeh, I knew it was a stupid question, just never occurred to me to add the bar weight! I guess it makes sense when you put it like that! Means I'm not as weak as I thought I was at least! :D

My mate doesn't for some weird reason, gets awkward when I say to him I'm putting a weight on and one side seems heavier :p

Isn't a oly plate 20kg ?
an XL plate I assume to mean 25kg (or maybe more ??)
 
most are 20kg, some are 22 and some are for little people or women and weigh 15 or something.
