*** The 2013 Gym Rats Thread ***

My new vibrams and toe toe socks arrived! cant wait to get home and wear them, oh how sad am i. No more £3 primark gym shoes for me, and no more on, off, on, off in the gym either :)

DANG! Forgot I'll need toe socks....haha. Not ordered anything yet.

Ice/Dom/FF/anyone else with vibrams, do you just go barefoot?

barefoot here.
Get yourself some wet wipes and use one before putting them on if you are doing so after a long day of work. they will be absolutely fine.

Otherwise they'll stink a bit after a while but nothing a quick wash won't sort out.

Fair game. Most of them say machine washable as you say Cristian anyway, and seeing as I train in the mornings now they shouldn't get too bad

Leg doms today. wonderful

Haven't done any training whatsoever since last wednesday due to hurting my back which meant I missed Friday (leg day) so last nights session was changed to legs instead.

Although I didn't really lift any more weight than usual my squats felt better than usual.
Also tried hack squats for the first time in my life after that.

Yeah kd, you've got no use for a belt yet!

Speaking from my own experience only, you don't need a belt for body weight squats do you? This is coming from a man with an infamously pants core!

I would have thought a belt would be necessary for pretty hefty lifts, especially if you're using a smith.

Meant a dipping belt :)

You don't need to wear socks w/Vibrams - if they start to pong over time then buy some 70% alcohol (sold as rubbing alcohol) and pour it into a spray bottle apply. You can machine wash them too. The socks remove a touch of ground feel but are useful if the gym (or outside) is freezing.

Don't stop in a puddle with them though as it's hello soggy foot.

Which Vibrams did you get?

I read somewhere that soaking them in vinegar for a day before you wash them is great at getting rid of odour  could be just BS of course.

Hello Guys,

I need some help/advice from some experts :P

I go down the gym 3/4 times a week I have what I think is a good routine basically I want to lose weight and tone up below is my workout routine can you please let me know if it's ok or if theres anything I should change as I want to get the most out of the short time I'm in the gym.

This routine involves three 20minute workouts for weight loss,

First 20 minutes:

Barbell Squat 5 reps
Barbell calf raise (standing) 5 reps
Barbell shoulder press (military) 5 reps
Barbell Biceps curl (underhand) 5 reps
Body Weight pushup 10 reps
Dumbbell Raise (front) 5 reps
Dumbbell raise (lateral) 5 reps

Second 20minutes:

Barbell Squat 5 reps
Barbell Lunge (forward) 5 reps
Barbell shoulder press (military) 5 reps
Barbell Raise 5 reps
Dumbbell raise (lateral) 5 reps
Barbell Biceps curl (underhand) 5 reps
Bodyweight Push up 5 reps

Third 20minutes:

Barbell Squat 5 reps
Dumbell Thruster 5 reps
Dumbbell Raise (front) 5 reps
Dumbell Row 5 reps
Dumbbell bicep curl (ubderhand) 5 reps
Bodyweight Push up 10reps

This gives me an hour in the gym for day one, day two and three I'd be working on individual parts IE chest, arms, back, legs. Anyway can you please let me know If I'm doing anything wrong or if theres anything better I could/should be doing.

Many Thanks

Ahh KD that makes a lot more sense now.

You could go straight to sticking 10kg on and hit reps between 8 - 10. Hitting 15 reps for 3 sets on dips is pointless bro.

Hm, is there such a thing as a shirt with some rubber grip on the back of it? namely on the shoulders? :p

EDIT: will just get some non slip matting or something

I got the KSO's

I have athletes foot and so the toetoe socks are to help me get rid of that once and for all. Also by seperating the toes and not wearing normal shoes around the office as well they will continue to help me improve my foot conditioning and hopefully improve posture to.

Hmm, fair enough. I think I'm on 12/12/8 or something BW wise at the moment. Hence the possible wait for 15/15/15 before I put a decent weight on the belt xD

Stick 10kg (or 5) on and start going for 8 8 8

They are a strange exercise dips. The first rep always feels ****ing hard then it gets easier for a bit. I thought 15-20kg was my max to hit 8 reps with a DB between my legs but with a belt yesterday 25kg was relatively easy.
