*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

My wife and I both have iPhone 4s. I ordered a case as part of the case programme (I still haven't received it yet though)

My wife didn't get around to ordering a case and has now missed the cut off. From reading the apple website you can still get a rebate if you have bought a bumper in either an O2 or an apple shop. If I buy a bumper today will I be able to get a rebate on it?

Question - What is the procedure for upgrading an already JB'd iPhone 4 on 4.0.1 to the new update of 4.1 once a new Jailbreak is released?. By that I mean do you upgrade the OS and then carry out the jailbreak?. When you upgrade the OS, before you JB does that mean you lose all your JB apps and settings and have to start from scratch again?.

Ermmm what??...the free case programme runs till 30th sept so your wife hasnt missed the cut off unless ive missed something.

You cant buy any bumpers until after 30th sept as it is...apple has stock but they are not allowed to sell them as they are giving them away for free. They were giving refunds to people who originally bought the bumpers before they acknowledged the reception issue then decided to give them out for free.

For iPhone 4 purchases made before July 23, 2010, you must apply no later than August 22, 2010; otherwise, you must apply within 30 days of your iPhone 4 purchase. To qualify for this program, you must purchase your iPhone 4 by September 30, 2010.

Doesnt seem to be any sort of cut off date.

A little while ago on here I reported about my iphone having a dead pixel and a click on the back which came and went. I went to the covent garden store at the weekend and got it replaced immediately. Very happy with that.

Ermm, did you not read the bit about "you must apply no later than August 22, 2010"
;)

She missed that cut off date as we got married a week before the date and getting an iphone case was not on her list of priorities before the wedding.

Now if your wife has downloaded the app for the free case and tried to order the case but was refused then fair enough but if she hasnt then she needs to try that and see what it says ie does it allow u to order or not.

I would imagine that as long as your within 30 days of buying the iphone they would give you a free case but otherwise if you have missed out then no they wont refund you or give you a rebate...you could try and speak to them.

She bought the phone on launch day.

Ahh ok then i see what the problem is...shes obviously missed the deadline and also the 30 day condition too.

Has she tried the free case app to see if it will still go through??...you never know it might just work.

Guys, have been using my iPhone 4 for a few days now. Really enjoying it but I am a little worried about battery life. It's currently lasting about 24hours under relatively heavy use (no extended movie watching but loads of browsing). This is almost comparable to my old iPhone 3G which was almost 2 years old. I'm currently running the battery all the way down and then changing it back up but so far I'm not impressed with the supposed extended battery life. I'm not sure if it matters but I am using a iphone USB cord to charge and not the power plug.

turn the brightness down
turn wifi off
stop spotlight
turn off the sound events you dont need
jailbreak it and get auto3g ( best app EVER ) for saving your battery

are you using the usb still and not the wall plug btw ?

I have a iphone 4 coming the 20th. How do i go about getting the free case?

When you get the phone, just activate it then log onto the app store via the phone...search for free case programme...download, install it then run it and follow the on screen instructions and you should be good to go.

Thanks for the advic. Yes, I am away at present and have borrowed an old iPhone cable. I alway make sure that Wifi is off and I try to manage which applications are open. I like all of the default sound events but don't know how to stop spotlight? I'm also highly reluctant to jailbreak it.

Right so reading this, it appears that computer chargers are the problem. I have lowered the brightness, turned off location services and set the lock to one minute. When I get home I will follow the instructions for the initial charge - hopefully it's not too-little-too-late.

I ordered my free case last Wednesday, 31st Aug, and it arrived Monday.
