*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Dammit! Just noticed I've got a dead pixel on the right handside about a third of the way up. Can you claim a replacement from Apple for just one dead pixel?

I never understood people using auto-brightness. Surely the phone uses more power by utilising the ambient light sensor, than if you just stuck it on 50% constant?

Never had problems with my battery life and I use push email and notifications pretty frequently.

Auto-brightness is not only useful for saving battery life... it dims the screen when you're in a dark place so you don't go blind when you turn it on and improves visibility on a bright sunny day.

And I believe you will find that the ambient light sensor (think the sensor just changes its resistance depending on amount of light hitting it, which is read by the processor to adjust the brightness) sips much less juice then the LEDs where it has to convert electricity to photons. Read somewhere the screen is responsible for around 40% of electricity consumption on a mobile phone.

Just noticed something which is annoying me.

Sometimes when i press a letter while texting it chooses an entirely different letter thats up left 1 letter of the key im pressing.
so i press L and it gives me an I or N then H.
Only happens for a second then it sorts itself out.

Happen to anyone else or...?

It's happened to me since my first 3G. I believe it's the dictionary trying to improve typing accuracy by predicting the next letter. It occasionally (usually) gets it wrong. I had an excellent example of the effect in action.... but I can't remember the text, sorry!

I've found that once the custom dictionary "learns" a bit, it happens less.

Yep has happened to me a few times whilst texting...annoying but after a min or so it sorts itself out.

It's not that bad, at full brightness my desire hits 20% and about 8% at low/mid brightness. The retina display won't be too different.

Scratched Screen

Anyone else had there screen scratched?

My phone is always in its case or bumper and never goes in a pocket with anything else but now is scratched :(

Apple say i've to take it to a genius bar and they will decide if its my fault or not.

Anyone know of way to buff it out maybe?

And yes, i know i should have used a screen protector but never have for any of my 3 previous iphones and not one had a scratch, just this with the 20x tougher glass!! madness

Just got Tmobile to finally upgrade to me the iphone4 32gb model, although i wont be keeping it as im selling it but after all the hassle they gave me in Aug..saying i could have an early upgrade but not letting me upgrade to the iphone4...i was a bit surprised that they let me do it as i wasnt able to until sept 24th.

Should have it by tommorrow so will be sticking it up for sale...should get £500 for it.
