Yeah it was jailbroken, the screen just refuse to turn on so they spent 5 mins trying to get it to work and replaced it

Doesn't apply - the 8 hours first charge thing applied to the Ni-MH batteries from the 90s. Modern lithium batteries have circuitry that monitors the battery state and optimises accordingly.
My iPhone came with a 95% charge out of the box. As long as it has a sensible charge in it just use it normally, or charge until it's at 100%.

I used the wrapsol side protection film bits along with my bumper. Works a treat.
Just bought one of these metal backs for my iPhone, won't have to worry about the back cracking or anything at least (and it's what I wanted the phone to look like in the first place which is a bonus).
Will update with pics when it arrives in '7-10 days'.
