*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Looking at getting a 2nd hand iPhone4 and this guy has one, sealed from Vodafone as an upgrade that he doesn't want. I'm on O2 so I wouldn't be able to use it as it's locked but he sent me the serial number off the box and it's "MC603B/A".

Quick google says that is unlocked, is it or are all iPhone's from Vodafone locked?

Would have thought that all network iphones are locked...i sold my iphone4 upgrade from tmobile last month and as far as i was aware it was locked to tmobile...in fact the guy who bought it from me rung and asked if i could get an unlock code for him from tmobile but tmobile said they dont keep unlock codes as the phones belong to apple.

In fact Voda wont unlock the iphone4 until its out of contract from what google threw up.

Googling the serial number he gave me says that it is unlocked, but I don't fancy a £400 iPod if I can't use my O2 sim in it :/

Well ring up apple and see what they have to say??...im only telling you what i read that Voda do not unlock their iphone4s unless its out of contract...simple as that.

So unless he got it from apple direct, who sell iphone4s as unlocked as i have one and am using my tmobile sim with it...i cant see how an iphone4 from vodafone is unlocked.

Also my iphone4 is MC605B which are unlocked according to google.

As yours is different, i just again looked and i found this:#

United Kingdom
MC603B/A – 16GB Black
MC605B/A – 32GB Black

Those model numbers are locked according to this website: http://www.iphone-network.net/how-to-tell-if-your-iphone-4-is-unlocked/

So according to that, the iphone4 your looking to buy is locked...only way he could unlock it is via code that he got or hes jailbroke it and used an unlock code.

Btw thats the model number and not the serial number.

model, serial, same dance :P

I'll get the phone and hopefully it works or straight onto the auction site!

That site says "MC603B/A" is UK Factory Unlocked?

Ahhh i didnt see that...just assumed that it was locked.

Oh well only thing you can do is get the phone and hope it works with your sim or ring up apple and see what they say regarding that model number.

Yeah, heres hoping! He's coming round in 15mins to drop the phone off.

is it possible to downgrade from 4.1 to 4? The phone won't work with my O2 sim, locked to Vodafone!

Just have to wait until 4.2 is out. Moving from O2 to Vodafone on the same 30-day £20 deal then once 4.2 is out I'll move to Tesco's 30-day £10pm deal.

TopCashBack offering £40 cashback for Vodafone £20pm 30-day sim, means I can get 2 free months then change to Tesco!

a friend wants to unlock his o2 iphone4 so he can use his 'three' sim, what are his options. Someone quoted him £45 which is absurd tbh.

Lost my iphone 3Gs with a year left on contract, luckily they stropped making the 16gb 3Gs and the insurance coughed up the extra for an iPhone 4. ;)

Lookin good so far, pity I have to wait for O2 to send my micro sim.

I've just been given a free iPhone 4! The only catch; the camera doesn't work. Can't complain at that price though - don't take many pics anyway.

Happy :)

Take it into Apple and they might replace it for you if its a factory-style fault.

My first iPhone 4 had a non working camera. One trip to the nearest Apple Store and within 10 mins I had another new iPhone 4 with a working camera.

You may not use it often but you have to have it working just in case you get that snap of a lifetime that you can sell and retire on. Or some fit bird naked.

I went to use my Iphone 4 camera today, haven't used it for a while...

Now i seem to have a blue tint to the centre of the photos....:mad::mad:

Anyone else get this, quick google seems to suggest its not an uncommon issue...

Wonder if its anything to do with the 4.1 update as i was waiting for the new JB, so have only just updated....

Am i going to have to send it back to Apple?
