*** The all new iPhone 4 thread - Keep all iPhone 4 stuff in here ***

Wasn't criticising the networks for this, more that I don't think Apple should be releasing an iPhone every year when the minimum contracts are 18 months. How much easier would it be if those who wanted could take out the contracts and still get hold of the new iPhones when they became available.

But again, it's the same with all other mobile phone manufacturers. Why should Apple be different?

Currently using an 8GB 3G iphone. Love the new design, it seems like a pretty big step forward from the 3G which I still think is a great device so I am pretty much sold on this one.

I do not however want to get tied up to any 2 year or even 18 month contract. Is £450 accurate for the 16GB PAYG version? If it is around that mark, I will get it.

and steve NEVER makes up BS reasons why his tech is more awesomez than other peoples, na not Steve!

It's quite well known that a cameras resolution is not the definitive way of knowing the actual quality of the photos. It sounds like Apple have included a better sensor :). If we get some test shots we'll be able to see for ourselves :D.

My contract is up for renewal on the 23rd July so I guess this would be a good time to see what kind of deal I can get on the iPhone 4. I have a 16Gb 3G at the moment that I got free from work, and my contract was originally on a Samsung, but changed over to an iPhone tariff.

Through my employment I also get £100 off any contract phone, so I hope that applies to the iPhone, and that O2 honour their same deal for existing customers as new customers.

As an aside, I could probably get a cracking deal on a new 3GS? That could be worth it as iOS4 will add a couple of features I was after anyway.

But again, it's the same with all other mobile phone manufacturers. Why should Apple be different?

Do other phone manufactures have such strict and regular release schedules though? Not to mention the fact that most (all?) other manufacturers have more than one handset to offer, with different features. Apple have a single phone that most users would want to upgrade to, given the (relatively) low outlay once every 18 months and a continuing monthly cost. I probably would. Instead, without wishing to 'waste' money, I can only buy every other iPhone, keeping each for 2 years and having a period of 6 months where the phone is beginning to look tatty through constant and regular use.

Question how much would I get for my 3G these days?

It's not in bad nick it's got a small crack where the USB cable plugs in and a few scuffs here and there but nothing major, few specs of dust under the screen as well

Any ideas?

My 3G is pretty much in the same condition, envirophone will give you about £185 for a 16GB in working order.

THanks for that, just seen the link in the other thread, hate the word limited, that means nothing in advertising anymore, signed up tho, so will wait and see what they mail out.
