All went horribly wrong at this end, ended up cancelling my order with Vodafone. I was always a bit reluctant about signing up to a contract, in the space of 2 hours Vodafone managed to live up to all that is wrong with mobile carriers.
I ordered on the 7th, and received a text last night that I could collect my phone today after 10am. So I booked time of work, drove into town and paid to park. Went to the store and they did not have my phone. They had plenty that were not assigned but could not give me one. I was told to come back around 3 as it might be in and was told to contact customer service. For some insane reason, Vodafone store CS can't contact telephone CS if you ordered online! Finally got through after a 40 minute wait and was told to go back to the store on Monday. Absolute idiots.
I had another discussion with the store and was told they could give me an unreserved phone, but I'd have to phone CS again (probably be on hold for 30 plus minutes) and cancel my upgrade. They would then make another store order, but I'd lose the £60 cash back for pre ordering!
I accept that mistakes and delays happen. But I don't accept than when it does happen the customer should have to spend the time chasing things up. Thats what stores are for. While everyone I spoke to tried to help, they seemed crippled by a "computer says no" mentality. I dread to think it what it would be like trying to deal with a billing problem. Looks like I'll be stumping up the cost and picking up a phone from the Apple store.
