Right, went through the initial process of setting up the phone on the phone.
Chose restore from iTunes. That took 3 minutes.
Then phone shuts down and restarts on apple logo and progress bar and its been stuck on that for the last 10minutes.......Is this normal?
 
Argh, super annoyed.

Just realised that the volume up button on the side of the phone is either stuck or broken. :(

What's the odds on the Apple store(s) keeping stock aside for this kind of thing?
 
To those of you that have got them, two Siri questions:

  1. Is it alright with English accents? I know voice recognition software can be picky!
  2. What's the story with maps and local search? Apparently it's not working in all countries, but I'd guess UK would be high up on Apple's priority list?
 
I haev had no problems with Siri....


Infact I havent even had much chance to play with Siri much, my phone is still being passed round the office as I type. Its certainly been asked some strange questions, with some great answers!

Works fine with my dads (lack of)'accent. About 70% success with my slight brummie accent but less then 20% with my gf pure brummie accent
 
Siri is fine for most things but...

1) It really does require an internet connection even for local requests (i.e. play ABBA).
2) It's not very good for dictating messages. It makes too many mistakes.

Imterestingly, speaking to some yanks online they say dictation works perfect, it's clearly more refined for over there
 
I thought on the 4 you couldn't use Internet or data while on the phone? I'm posting this while on the phone to apple :/ thought that was the point of the 4s 2 antenna
 
Looks like my new 4S is faulty!
Been stuck on apple logo and progress bar now for 30min!

Wount let me restore it either. I've put it in recovery mode and connected to iTunes but get a Error 3194 in iTunes!

Looks like im going to be without a phone this weekend as 02 have switched off the other sim for the micro-sim in the 4S.

You can walk into O2 and ask for a sim card adaptor! They cost nthing

No, it's only on CDMA networks that they can't. UK phones have always been able to do both at once. :)

It has two antennas because one is for send and one is for receive.
