********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

O2. I believe its the same for all networks, as i've seen people in the US have the same issue. Reading other forums Vodafone, 3, Orange and Giffgaff (O2) also have it disabled.

I'm hoping its a bug as i regularly turn off 3G to save battery.

I just can't see why you'd want to cripple it by turning 3G off.

Each to their own I guess.

ok just got of the phone with orange as i phoned them at 8 (opening time) CPW have not put it through on there end properly, they did the small transaction to confirm my address but thats it, so wtf do i do now as i have just got a phone thats meant to have a 24 month contract, the phone has been paid for but without a sim i can't do f all

You'll have to get CPW on the blower and get them to do it properly.

My battery life was terrible yesterday. Though if you look at the spec, standby is 200 hours which is 100 less than the 4.

Must be the dual core processor doing it.

Hmmm if the battery life is that terrible I must just cancel mine and look for other options or just buy an old 4.

Worrying me at the minute is how bad the video is and how poor the battery life seems to be. My mrs will use the video at fair bit so I might just get her an SG2 instead.

just been in and had a strong "chat" with them and they still say its gone through and that its just a back log on orange side, when i asked what orange were on about with no record of it going through they just said that it will take a bit :(

there are some pros and cons to this if its doesn't go through

pros = i have a 64gb white iPhone that doesn't drag me down for a 2 year contract, and that i can in affect stick a rolling sim in it.

cons = i have no sim thats works with it yet and would have to wait for orange again to sort one out transferring my number over to the small sim

It could be the change in modem that's prompted Apple to remove the 'turn off 3G' option. Perhaps the new modem doesn't like switching 3G off on the fly without a full system reboot or simply doesn't support it at all.

People complaining about battery life; don't forget it's a brand new phone so the battery has to be "run in" before it reaches it's real potential.

Can't you just get some random PayG sim for now?

Just done a hard reset on my iPhone after it refused to finish sync. Lots of reports of this and a reset is so far the only way to clear it. Hopefully restoring a backup won't put it back into a sync loop.

Also, after leaving the phone on charge all night, battery level was reported at 2%. Looks like Apple have a bug to fix there.

Inevitable that there will be bugs like this so hopefully things will get better at 5.0.1.

Worth mentioning again that the standby time is 200hrs, down from 300 of the iPhone 4

Because they've removed the function to disable 3G!
I don't understand why Apple do stupid things like this.. honestly

The only reason I can think of is like Siri because that goes over the network doesn't it? And people would be going "oh it's not working" and 3G is disabled, though it's no different then any other app really.

Apple must have a date for the next batch because my delivery estimate has moved :D

It was 21st to the 28th but now it is:

Hopefully I get it before I head to america on the 25th!

Same for me, thats a nice suprise for today.

Quite eager to get my hands on the 4s, this is my first Apple product after years of Android phones. Hope this is the right decision to make as I liked the feel and workings of the standard 4 so much.
