********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

In regards to the 3G questions, I have the option to turn off Cellular Data, which removes the 3G symbol next to my network name - or am I being daft

I do remember on the 4 you had 3G and Cellular Data buttons.

Yep but that will turn off ALL data, not just 3g.
Sometimes you want to turn 3g off as its actually slower than normal data and ruins battery life sometimes!

Personally after upgrading from the 3gs the battery life is amazing :D

Am i the only that thinks iMessage would be a pain in the ass because i would rather send a regular text then waste data usage sure it's not much but i still would like the choice.

I did not test that with my iPhone 4, I always turned both on and off together!

Unlimited Data for the win :p

Click - add to ignore list :p

Im on 500mb :(

Whats everyones battery life like?

On friday and sat it seemed pretty poor, then last night I chared it all night. In the morning it was still on 95% so I disconnected and reconnected. I went back to bed and woke up and it was on 100% at 9am.

I have been browsing, taking a few photos, played a few games, around an hour of sky go through wireless, maybe 30 minutes of real racing 2 and using a flashlight app now.

Its still on 20% battery which to me seems a lot better than when I was using it the day before or friday

I charged the phone on Friday, and the phone has been on since with a few phone calls, WIFI amd some playing about and I'm on 50% battery.

Damn, that is good. ~2.5 days and only down to 50%

5 days for iphone use is unheard of

edit - Do you have mobile data off or brightness down? I just have 50% on mine all the time (no autodim)

Surely the data usage would be minute though?

I'd guess even a pretty long message would use less than 1KB of data - so you could send at least half a million of them with a 500MB allowance!

Admittedly lots of people have unlimited or effectively unlimited texts these days, though, so iMessage probably isn't that useful unless you have an iPhone and an iPad and want your messages to appear on both...

Where I see it as being useful is for the odd picture or even video message. O2 charges for these, whereas I can now send them for free :)

isnt whatsapp a better app? at least u can send to friends who have android/blackberry/windows/nokia symbian phones as well?

If it integrated automatically it would be great, but it doesnt and a lot of my mates with blackberries dont have whats app

imessage is quite useful to me because i have poor signal in my house (sometimes no service) It will be good when more people have ios5

Custom vibrations patterns and shortcuts on ios5 is cool. omw = on my way etc

Anyone got any idea how the syncing of savegames is meant to happen for apps? I'm trying to play Infinity Blade on my iPhone using my save from the iPad and it just says "No Data" against both in the iCloud settings. Do they automatically sync to iCloud when I run a backp?

Any ideas on this folks?

Will the day ever come when all these messaging systems - MS/AIM/FB Chat/Skype/iMessage/whatsapp etc will get unified? How many chat programs do we need anyway?

Maybe a topic for another thread. :)

I quite like having people in separate messageners/programs.
Plus the first 4 in your list are real time chat where as iMessage and whatsapp wouldn't really be classified as real time chat, more like an sms alternative.

Whatsapp on the whole is still my favourite and the group topic/chat thing actually works quite well.
