********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

Hmm, well I still want to give it a try.

Now, black or white....black or white.

Ugh, they both look so good hahaha. I'm really leaning towards the white one, although everything at my desk is black and I think the white might stick out too much.

While the black is nice it might blend in too well.

There's also the chance I'm slightly insane and over thinking all of this completely.

Don't even get me started I have re-ordered this phone 4 times, but I am definately going for white, White is the new Black.

I don't know what to do!

I'm so torn, my contract isn't even up until December!

One site made this statement

appadvice
A white bezel will you give the impression that the screen is dimmer, and has less contrast. The content won’t stand out as much. There is a reason why TVs come generally in Black, and letterbox content with black frames. White will make your movies and games look worse. Then, a white Frame will also reflect more light when you’re outside, it will be more visibly dirty and worse of all, white Apple products have a long history of problems, from cracking, delays to light leaks and so on.

Even so the white looks nice, so does the black though.

I don't know what to do!

Can't understand how some of you guys are getting days of usage, mine wont last a day with light use.

Done all the tweaks too and still bad, much worse than my 4. took it off charge at 7am, when I got home from work at 5pm it was on 20%. Had wifi off all day too.

Maybe try wiping the phone the phone and run like that for a day, that might tell you if it's a program or something miss behaving.

Wirless is always off, notifications on for phone, messages, reminders, calender and facebook. Screen brightness is on auto. I have done a few of the tweeks listed on the internet, re; time set by gps off, turned some gps systems off in options as they were always using gps which drained battery. I have email as manual check.

It's quite good at holding its charge when in standby i went to bed one night at 94% slept for 8 hours woke up and it was 90% so roughly 1% per 2 hours.

If i use the phone properly though, it drains sooooooo fast like 10-12 hours. I doubt i used the phone for 3 hours plus aswell, seems something in the background kept the usage up before i closed it. I love the standby time, but using it as i normally would with a phone it wouldn't last half the day. It's quite bad after coming from a Blackberry.

I've charged it once since getting it, let the initial charge from box run to 0 and turn the phone of then did a 0-100% to calibrate the battery. I'll stick it on charge once this gets to 5% aswell.

Its charged whenever it gets to the 5-10% indicator or sometimes earlier if i know i wont have time to put it on charge. I am not sure re; network provider, i haven't gone outside or on the tube yet where it will loose signal and most like waste battery trying to find it or loose signal based on location.

Phone is on latest version of IOS5, no idea why it says Cellular Usage and not Mobile Usage.

Thanks.

Do you have icloud on? Ive turned off pretty much everything else i dont need pin, traffic, time zone, iAds(???) diagnostics, compass calibration etc

Will test tonight to see how life life is

It enables it to rotate the map to the direction you're facing.

I can still use that feature, even when I turn it off

One thing I did notice from all the digging was that "setting time zone" was constantly calling for a GPS signal. I've now turned it all off except the "mobile network search" and "compass calibration".

I wasn't getting bad life before, but i'd like to see if this makes a marked difference.

Nope, that function still works with compass calibration turned off. You'll only need it on if you start having problems with the compass not tracking correctly.

Interestingly, my phone has a "Cell network search" option instead of the "mobile network search". Not sure why. Bought direct from apple.

Yup that is left on.

I have all of you mentioned off aswell.

I suppose icloud can be turned on when needed. I tested again last night and from 12pm - 6.30am it was down to 96%

Not sure if thats becaues a few more things are off or im charging differently. I will turn icloud off

I have 'find my friends' app. Does this use gps on my phone automatically without my say so? I'm presuming it does so my friends can see where I am. Might turn this off as it might use battery all the time (would render the app useless though)

edit - I have just turned off icloud (each individually) and left find my phone on. It looks like it has deleted my notes from icloud that have been created since it has been turned on. does icloud only sync when you manually do it, or all the time?

So i went to bed at about 12.30 with it on 98%, looked at it at 8.20am and it was on 77%! :(

Thats not good.

Thats with all but the Mobile Network service off in system location settings.....

My iP4 would barely loose anything overnight, 2% max. Both with everything including wifi on. FWIW, the iP4 is still running 4.3.3 jailbroken, with lots of tweaks from Cydia.

Going to try the restore idea i have seen mentioned on the Apple forums, see if that helps.... :(

I have turned the setting for 'time zone' off in the system settings but the 'automatically set time' setting on in the date and time settings - will my clock still auto change for the clocks going back next week?
