********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

The rattle is normal and not a design fault from the info ive gathered.
It is the AutoFocus lense.

I've tested it and this is the case.

You can test it by first opening camera and focusing on something in the distance- the rattle is there when you tap.

Now focus on an object really really close (like an object only an inch away from camera), let it focus- rattle gone when you tap!

Maybe try wiping the phone the phone and run like that for a day, that might tell you if it's a program or something miss behaving.

Think I might have to.

So far today I received 4 emails manually and sent and received a few texts, 7am to 10 am battery has gone from 100% to 86%. There isn't much more I can disable.

Just something for you guys to try regarding battery.

Do everything to save battery as previously in this thread, then hold the home button and the power button together until it turns off for a hard reset. Let your battery run down after this hard reset, then charge it.

I noticed it took a lot longer to charge and the charge holds a lot longer. I've been on standby since 9am, where the alarm went off, checked emails, Facebook and read this thread as well as replying. 3G is on, no bluetooth etc and I'm still on 100%!

Most push notifications are on, iCloud is on

can you turn the phone on in between the reset and charge or do you need to leave it off? (sorry if thats a st00pid question lol)

Since 6.00am this morning ive lost 10% battery life (its now 10:50am). So im averaging around 2% loss every hour. Sent around 8 text messages, logged onto FB once and teh appstore and have recieved 2 emails.

Everything pretty much disabled and iCoud on Wifi/BT Off

You with 3 by any chance?

Looks like if you are with them it shows Cell/Celluar instead of Mobile.

Nope, O2!

I suppose icloud can be turned on when needed. I tested again last night and from 12pm - 6.30am it was down to 96%

Not sure if thats becaues a few more things are off or im charging differently. I will turn icloud off

I have 'find my friends' app. Does this use gps on my phone automatically without my say so? I'm presuming it does so my friends can see where I am. Might turn this off as it might use battery all the time (would render the app useless though)

edit - I have just turned off icloud (each individually) and left find my phone on. It looks like it has deleted my notes from icloud that have been created since it has been turned on. does icloud only sync when you manually do it, or all the time?

I thought iCloud only synced/backedup when its on power?

Sorry, didn't make that clear. Yes, you can turn the phone on after the reset and use it normally, just run it down without charging it. I'm on 95% now after using 3G and taking 3 3G calls (I'm self employed). Main reason I'm so adiment on getting the battery issue sorted is I travel a lot and don't want to have to rely on the car charger to keep me going.

Turned off most of location services apart from the cell network search, maps, find my iphone, and siri. Fetch instead of push email at hourly. iCloud set to manual, and all of its turned off apart from photostream and find my iphone.

Changing the iCloud settings seemed to have the biggest impact on my battery life.

Battery life on this is awful! I've been using 3G Internet on it for 2 hours straight and I'm down to 20% from a full charge... Should I go and book an appointment at the Genius Bar? Id rather go back to my iPhone 4 than have this battery...

I doubt it will make a difference, i stated yesterday if i do light useage it can last a few days. If i up it to medium/high useage it drains so fast.

It's putting me off the phone to be honest and i love it, going to give it a few more charges then decide on my plan of action.

This does not sound good, seems a few people here are experiencing the same problems.

I thought the 4S was supposed to have a better battery then the older model.

I got a White 64GB 4S and I charged it to full last night before bed at 12:30, been listening to music for a hour or two and on 75% so not too bad imo. Also sent about 10 texts, played games, messed around showing Siri to friends.

I tried my old 4 cases and the buttons seem about 1-2mm out of place :(

I think it's a combination of iOS 5 as well as the iPhone 4S.

iOS 5 is caning my iPad 2 battery, too. The iPad in standby would last for days and days on end, now when on standby its drains away over just two or three.

My iPad 2 doesnt drain away at all on IOS5, same as before.

How long does Apple reckon you can get on 3G browsing?

8 Hours I think?

For some reason my usage statistics are resetting by themself randomly, generally some point after the 2 day mark.

EDIT: Looks like this could be a bug with IOS5. Usage stats reset after a power cycle or hard reset.

I have to say I was severely disappointed when I got the phone due to the battery but since my posts earlier today, including browsing, a further 3 calls, 2 texts and Facebook notifications I am now only on 82%.

I think others should try it, to confirm that the hard reset does something as it may be a coincidence. I also disabled siri's raise to speak option as it most likely uses a little bit more battery.

Woop! just got mine
