********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

Here's my stats after unplugging from a full charge this morning. Third of the battery gone already. Have turned off all the bits mentioned in this thread, am not using iCloud or location services. Wifi has been on and in use for 90% of this time, bluetooth is on and has been in use for maybe 30 mins.

Hi guys, is it possible to use a US Iphone 4s in the UK? Any downsides or anything? Heading to NY in February and fancy buying myself something nice, got an Ipad when I was there at New Year so fancy doing similar again.

I seen its meant to be a 'world phone' but is that really actually true?

I thought iCloud only synced/backedup when its on power?

under documents and data it says - Use mobile - On

When not connected to wi-fi, use mobile network to transfer documents and data

I presume by this it mean when connected to wifi it will sync docs and data. When, im not sure

Interesting, just turned that off as well.

Worked out the "Cell/Cellular" versus "Mobile" wording in the menus. If language is set to English, it uses Cell/Cellular. If you set the language to British English, it changes to Mobile.

Allow apps to store documents and data in icloud

Would be more helpful if it said what documents and data. Ive just turned documents and data off

It's sat on 100% for last 4 hours, sent 6 messages and received 5 and im now sat on 93%.

Nothing more or less, as i stated, standby is brilliant for me while actually using the phone drains it fast.

Took my phone off charge at 5:30am this morning, currently at 91% with 45 minutes usage.

Email, facebook, web browsing and 2 or 3 youtube videos on my lunch.

I'm trying to see how long I can stretch the usage over the weekend, without charging. "Setting time zone" must have been slamming the battery though, I used to drop 3% every hour before I tweaked those settings (That's a 20% saving so far!)

Out of interest, did you restore from a previous backup of an iP4 onto your 4S? Or start from scratch?

It does drain like crazy when in use, was on 100% for three hours when on the table, couple of wakes, one email check, one app open, 4h 30m since charge and its 94%. Yesterday I barely got through the day, so in the evening I took screen brightness off automatic, switched off gps and wifi etc. Not much change to drain today, seems the moment you wake it up it just goes through battery like crazy. Will need to test it with Siri off tomorrow.

8 Hours I think?

For some reason my usage statistics are resetting by themself randomly, generally some point after the 2 day mark.

EDIT: Looks like this could be a bug with IOS5. Usage stats reset after a power cycle or hard reset.

If it's 8 hours I'm definitely booking an appointment because it took a mere 2 hours before it dropped to 20% battery life and it ran out of juice before the end of my work day - Not happy :(

Incredibly impressed with Three's customer service. Every call I've made to them has been to someone who seems to want to go out of their way to help me. Today I called them about my damaged handset after speaking with Apple last night (they told me I'd likely get a "service handset" or something, which means a handset made up of working components from returned handsets), and they're sending me out a new replacement on Tuesday morning. I'll cancel my Genius Bar appointment tomorrow then :D

Thanks for that! :)

My thoughts exactly! What can I expect at the Genius Bar? I've never had to do this before? Can I expect to be without a phone for a while? Or will they do a swap?

I would say factory reset the phone and run with a phone with nothing installed for a day and see if it improves. Try a hard reset like solus he seems to have had good results.

It's more likely to to be software related, you've probably got something running in the background which is draining the battery.

Also note; the battery and power usage is up to, you won't get those actual numbers unless you are in a lab ;)

Yeah but 2 hours of 3G surfing and it's practically dead! It's just not practical. I'll try a hard reset tonight - Hopefully it'll be a bit better...
