********** The all new "Official" iPhone 4S thread - Keep all the iPhone 4S stuff in here **********

I can't rember the exact term but you need to run the battery through a few complete cycles (full drain then full charge)I'm trying it now.
Usage 3:24 . Standby 5:54 and at 23% :(

Do these phones use litium ion batteries? If so, what you're suggesting is a terrible I idea.

I thought it was established that these types of batteries work best when constantly being topped up,compared to being forced to lose their charge completely before being recharged.

Lithium batteries.on the apple website it says to do a full charge once a month.its the apple geniuses who are telling people to do a few charge cycles to get the battery up to scratch .

Yup, correct. The battery should only really be fully drained around once a month. As you imply, its not Apple specific, that goes for all batteries of this type.

Some light reading from Apple:

The phone shuts itself down when it is critically low and before any damage can occur.

This is mine from today, not really used it much.

What do you think? Worth trying a restore?

There is no way I have used it for 7 hours today, how is it getting this?

The Macbook requires a full charge and discharge to calibrate the battery - I wonder if the iPhone is the same, or at least if people are assuming it is?

Yeah my battery is messed up. It hasn't lasted all day for sure. Was on 20% I plugged it into my MBP and in less than an hour its 53%.. Going to drain it down till it turns off and then charge it up.

Have thought the same. The StandBy time appears to be the total time elapsed since the last full charge, regardless of actual usage, whilst the Usage time seems to be far more than the actual time I've spent using the phone.

Perhaps Usage includes time the phone spends doing tasks even when you're not using it yourself?

This has already been anwered just a few posts back - if you're using time zone location services, then it uses GPS constantly and you end up with a usage time that indicates it's been in use constantly.

I have it disabled, all tweaks done.

This morning I took it off charge and went to my desk, battery has already dropped to 98%, usage said 0 mins, 3 mins of standby. How can I lose 2% battery in 3 mins?

I did a full drain and charge last night and was on 100 % this morning .Within 50 minutes i was down to 89 % .All i did was check face book play a game for a few minutes thats all really.last hour has only dropped 2 % with minimal use. I have tried all the fixes except the full restore.
Thats tomorrows option. If that doesnt work i will try and get the phone changed by o2.If thats no better i have to cancel my contract by friday as i am still within the 2 week period.
